"All Edges" Brownie Pan!

#1 Post by secondchance » Tue Aug 26, 2008 12:08 pm

Hi from San Diego!

Uly, I saw on another thread that you like the corners -

Google NONSTICK EDGE BROWNIE PAN by Bakers Edge to see what it looks like- sorry, I can't get photos to post right now.

I've been wanting to order this zig-zag "All corners & Edges" brownie baking pan - it looks very cool, but a bit pricey at around $35.00. Has anyone tried this, and if so, how do they come out??

Seeing that Ed and Andy posted their photos at the same minute, I must conclude that President Jackson already had mixed up his batter.

Why would I want a dumb thing like that -- I like the chewy center brownies, not the nasty crusty old dry edges! Yuck! :P

Seems more appropriate for those who buy it!

But if it makes someone happy, and another person rich, then it is the perfect American product (no matter where it is made)!

If there's a market for it, I guess whoever came up with it is pretty smart! But I personally prefer the middles

Now -- if you're talkin' cake -- I'll take an edge or a corner (since I like a little cake with my icing :D )

I also wanted to make a comment about what the brownies looked like, but I didn't want anybody to start equating brownies to turds.

I saw this in a SkyMall catalog on my recent flight down to Pensacola, and thought of KittySandwich too. But I must be in the minority, since I like both the middles and edges equally. A good crunchy-yet-chewy edge (as long as it isn't burnt) can be very satisfying.

I love the edges and am going in a minute to see if there are any left. My co-volunteers may have chomped them all already.

As for the price of the plan, I don't see a problem -- someone will get it for a Christmas present and hate it, and it will start showing up at your finer yard sales this spring.

I LOVE the edges but if I bought this I would eat the whole tray...now I am able to restrain myself only because I don't like the middle and therefore will give those away to friends or co-workers!

Plus it is not at all worth $35. You can just make them in mini loaf pans and you get the same result. Of course that's only a reasonable subsitution if you have 6 - 8 mini loaf pans!! :D

Only in this forum can we analyze a brownie pan in such a complete manner.

Did you know the best way to cut brownies neatly is with a cheap plastic fork?

Fork? That seems strange. I have had good luck with cheap plastic knives but a fork? Do you use the edge, the tines, or the handle?

I'm half crazy. Thanks for the correction. I do believe a knife would work better.

I just use the 'mine, all mine' brownie pan.

What time do they come out of the oven??

I see from an earlier post that you are a fellow edge fan. I'll arm wrestle you for 'em!

I also have to make truffles for work tomorrow so I'm mixing those up but they won't be ready til tomorrow, so I'll have to just live with brownies!!!

And don't worry, I'll share! :)
