We just bought a new computer

#1 Post by PlacentiaSoccerMom » Thu Jun 26, 2008 12:49 pm

We just bought a new computer, but I am not going to start disassembling the old one until I read the instructions.

Aww! That's no fun!

It's obvious you're female. Guys don't need no steenkin' instructions!
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Why would you disassemble the old one? Salvaging parts to add to the new one?

I don't normally use instructions either, but I want to make sure that I know about all of the features before I start loading software, etc.

I have to detach the router and cable modem from the hard drive, etc.

I forget if you're a Mac or PC household.

If it's running Windows of any flavor, you'll want to use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard.

Wow...I want to see how your system works. You really make a physical attachment between your comm devices and your hard drive? That would speed up I/O, I guess...

I do that but it's probably not what she was trying to say.

Look up "network attached storage".

Is it capable of major damage if it were to be thrown through a window?
Well, then

Depends on who it lands on.

Are you going to hook up the Wii drum kit to it?

It's downstairs.

The screen is nifty. It rotates 90% from horizontal to vertical.

It'd be kind of awkward to read a screen that's horizontal.

But I think you mean that it's a widescreen that rotates its alignment from landscape to portrait mode. Just like "disassemble" meant "unplug the cables". :)
