Good thoughts request
I was about to log in to say hi -- then the tornado sirens started going off.
So now I'm logging off and heading to the bathroom.
TV reports funnel on the ground a bit SW of me.

This line of storms finished passing through here about an hour ago. The only good thing you can say about it is that the line is fairly narrow and it's moving reasonably fast, so once the thunder stops, the bad weather is done for the night. I have the Tulsa radar up now, and it looks as if the most intense rotations are south of Hermillion (and my son #1 and his family.)
It's no fun listening to high winds and big hail, though. The neighbor's trees have contributed more downed branches to my yard. Although we had blinking lights earlier, the power has managed to stay on.
The good thoughts are on auto-pilot.

Well, that was fun. herjosie does NOT like being confined to the bathroom!
We got very strong winds, and an amazing show of lightning, but I don't think there is actual tornado damage. As SC said, the band was quite narrow, so it passed over us pretty fast. We heard a huge CRACK in the back yard, and I believe one of my trees may have snapped. I don't have a whole lot of light back there, but can see foliage hanging much closer to my house than it should. I'll be able to see better in the morning, and my tree guy is on speed dial. Our tornado warning is about to expire, and now we're just on flash flood alert.

No hawks makin' lazy circles right at the moment.
All tornado warnings/watches have been cancelled, and there are no reports of tornado damage. Now we're hearing about the broken power poles, outages in many areas, and tree limbs all over the roads. After the ice storm, and the recent high wind incidents we've been through I'm amazed there is anything remaining to be torn off!
I broke out the big flashligh to take a look at the tree in my back yard, and it definitely snapped in two about 20 feet up. The top portion is still attached, but is hanging down to within 3 feet of the ground. I'm hoping to get the tree guy here in time to cut it down before it breaks off completely and flips back through my living room windows. I'm glad that wasn't too bad. We had a tornado warning here in New Jersey last Saturday. We're probably going to have more.

Glad to hear that you made it thru last night's terrible storms. I wuz thinking of you and SC, while I was waiting for the line of storms to get to KC. We were lucky...only rain, wind, and frequent lightening. my mommy made me go into the little bathroom last niht when the tv guys started making lots of noise. i don't like that little room because i can't run around much.
thyis morning she won't let me go out in the backyard because she says there is a tree broken. i think the evil squrrls must have don it when they were running around up there trying to tease me.

If we were going to down a tree, we would have knocked it on top of a car, or a house, or a power line.... we don't just gratuitously destroy trees, since they're like our home.
But at least we don't dress up in silly costumes....

Please calm down, I'm sure you are just upset about the threats to your home. Don't let those mean bigoted canines upset your any more. Please understand that we love you and will do our best to protect you from uncaring and fluffy little dogs. Please don't be tempted to taunt them by suggesting that their mother dresses them funny. I suspect that the dogs had something to do with destroying the homes of many squirrels, just look how they react when you have to retreat to your home when they threaten you. Its bark! bark! bark! for hours. We sure that interferes with you beauty sleep. And the obvious contempt that male dogs exhibit towards trees when doing their "business" is just shocking.
