And "Teflon Kristy Lee" survives another week. The show is losing most of its edgier or entertaining characters. More and more each week it's becoming "the bland leading the bland". Or maybe the "bland blonde leading the bland". I get more and more aggrivated with each week she continues. Pickler didn't have a great voice, but at least she was entertaining. Cook is not only a mediocre singer, she has the stage presence of a cactus.
Spoiler
The fact that Kristy Lee remains is probably due to Vote for the Worst's influence.

Jeff is sad that Michael left, he said that he is "dreamy." (I think that he is making fun of me and Maddie.)

Usually when it comes down to the final six, the show starts becoming less interesting. The people who are quirky are usually voted off, so I generally stop watching the show.

VFTW may have helped a little, as every vote counts, but they have been much less successful or influential this year. They tried like heck to keep Amanda the rocker chick in the running and she did not even make the tour. Their Kristy Lee endorsement has been tepid, noting that they do not even like her! Yeah, all the quirky people are gone already.

This week Dialidol had Kristy Lee in the top three, and as one of the three they were sure would be safe. Barring a bad performance, we might have her to kick around a couple more weeks.

I am still rooting for David Cook, but I suspect that if he wins, it would ruin his career. He needs to finish in 3rd or 4th place and have a career like Chris Daughtry.

There has got to be survivor guilt spreading throughout the remaining people.

I think Michael was the most shocked of any contenstant I have seen voted off. Even more than Doolittle.

Yes, that was a big surprise. I did not expect him to win but I did not think he would leave this soon. He was one of those mixed-bag types for me. Some of his vocals were irritating (Day In The Life, for example) and some were very good. I also think he will do better as a front man for a band than as a solo artist.

Survivor guilt? Whatever are you talking about! American Idol in America's greatest form of meritocracy! I wouldn't have become a world class dishwasher without my fourth place finish!

Have I ever mentioned before that I beat out an Oscar® winner? I should at least be the maitre 'd at Mel's by now....

I also thought it was just plain cruel to mention that they did not eliminate anyone at last years "Idol Gives Back" and then..... "but we are eliminating you this year."

I just got done watching the performances from Tuesday (I was out of town until last night). A few random thoughts, not that it matters now:

(FTR, I do know who got booted last night.)

- Michael's version of "Dream On" (which, admittedly, is not one of my favorite Aerosmith songs, of which there are precious few) was a mess. And don't get me started on the falsetto. D.

- Syesha was....good, but not great. Dumb song (no matter how they gushed over Fantasia's version), good technically, but soulless. B-

- Kristy was surprisingly effective, at least technically, but she still has to get over the whole lack-of-a-personality thing. B

- Cook was just downright awful. Horrible song choice, beginning the song about 3 octaves lower than his voice can take it, pretentious (which I think is more accurate than "pompous") "performance", although the "give back" hand message was interesting -- but at first I thought it said "Not Penny's Boat". Horrible, awful, execrable stuff, and almost as bad as the travesty of "Eleanor Rigby" (which I may be in the minority of hating, but I stand by my opinion). I was beginning to like the guy, too.... D.

- Archuletta was....agreeable. I know, I can't believe I'm saying it either. I've still not swallowed the Kool-Aid yet, but there were 5 or 7 notes in there that I really liked. Not the ones at the beginning, and DEFINITELY not the ones at the end (the histrionics were, as usual for me, overblown), but there were a couple in the middle that showed that maybe the hormones are finally kicking in. B.

- Carly: Um....no. Just no. F-.

Which leaves the two best performances, for me, of the night:

- Brooke. I like her more and more every week. Sweet, simple (and yes, I love Carole King)....lovely. I do wish she'd sat behind the piano, though. A-.

and my winner of the evening:

- Jason. I'm NOT a huge fan of Brudda Iz's "Rainbow"...but I loved Jason's version of the same arrangement. A.

I think she shows tremendous personality in the interviews and exchanges with the judges. I agree not so much when singing. It's been fun to watch her go from Top 24 fodder to...well, not a contender, but at least she fits into the second tier better than I anticipated.

For what it's worth, I'm with you on this. I have been hot and cold on Mr. Cook, but "Rigby" was definitely NOT one I enjoyed. Didn't appreciate the arrangement, and wanted to smack him for blowing the lyric ("Father McKenzie, WEARING his socks in the night when there's nobody there"? Unforgivable!)

As for Cook, female version, the sooner she is gone the happier I will be. There's just no "there" there. I suppose every season has to have somebody who sticks around much longer than they should (even if that "somebody" varies depending on who's doing the thinkin'), but I admit that at this point I will probably have trouble being objective about any performance she gives. She has NEVER gotten through a song without at least a half-dozen notes significantly out of place, her voice is whiny and she's human Sominex onstage. She's on the tour, she's guaranteed she will make enough money to buy her horse back, so can we please send her packing? Pretty please?

I thought Michael's take on "Dream On" was an top notch "bar band" performance. Nothing more, nothing less. I thought he had enough game to make Top 4 or 5 and if he had gone home at that point I wouldn't have argued too much. There are others still in it who should've gone first though. The biggest beef I have is with the brutal way they gave him the boot. That was total crap, and I would say that even if it had been Kristy Lee who was treated that way.

listening to these contestants is like being stuck in a karakoe bar without the ambience ( or alcohol, which would help)
