If that photo is of the audition room, it seems to be the same that I remember from my Hollywood Squares audition in the mid 90s.

now the rumor of taping in Vegas comes out. That certainly makes more sense to me than LA.
Costs would be cheaper, it would be easy to fill the audience and not have to pay that audience, people from all over the country are always around Vegas, so they would get a better diversity of geographical location than they are getting in Stamford. They could even keep their main offices in LA and still film in Vegas.
If I have to fly across the country, I would rather do this in Vegas as the taxes on winnings would be so much cheaper (no state income tax in Nevada). I could also get cheaper flights to Vegas and maybe, just maybe afford to bring a plus one instead of having to find a local.

Hey, maybe they're just looking for gamblers, though they could find them at any east-coast casino. And they've had enough people gambling on what they don't know already. Maybe they think gamblers would be more likely not to burn lifelines early on what they do know.

Risk Format is a variation of the classic format that some versions of WWTBAM uses. You can get a 4th lifeline at the vegining of the game, but it will cost you one of the guaranteed safe levels. The German version uses this, has "Ask One of the Audience" as its fourth lifeline, and the second safe level is removed. I would sure eliminate the first safe level for a double dip. Would be great to have both that and 50/50 left at a high level if needed. I probably have about a 40% chance of getting to the 2nd safe spot without any lifelines anyway, and likely a 90%+ chance of getting there with lifelines.

I was lucky enough to be in the audience for two episodes of the German version in 2009 while on holiday and the "Ask One of the Audience" works as such:
1. Player decides to go with "Risk format" and the Q10 safe haven is eliminated. Player is granted 4th lifeline from the start and keeps ATA, 50/50 and PAF as well.
2. When player plays this lifeline, they bring up the house lights. Anyone who thinks they know the answer can stand up. Player picks one person who is standing up and they have a dialogue. Audience member locks in a "suggestion".

I like the idea of putting your safe haven wherever you want... I think that would be a great addition to the US version.

Unfortunately this is the type of reasoning we've seen so few make it to the $100,000 question in the last couple of years. If I was allowed to set my own milestone, I certainly wouldn't put it at any higher than $20,000. Questions above that level are usually too tricky to risk everything on it.
I figure it is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and if I truly believe I belong on that stage, than I'm good enough to go all the way. I will go in with the decision already made of $100,000 or bust; and if I can even eliminate one answer at $250,000, I'm going for it. We'll see what happens after that...if they would just call me already!
