Wedding Blog: Big Day for Beautiful Daughter minus 152 days

#1 Post by gsabc » Tue Mar 11, 2008 11:12 am

Felt that the full title was due for an airing, for newcomers and to remind the oldcomers why I'm doing this.

Slow times for wedding news. BD is tired from the trip, though the cats stayed with us last night. I think they're showing their annoyance with her not being there. FSIL needs to tie strings on his fingers. Apparently he left behind two of the three gifts he had bought for her on the not-together gift-giving events - Christmas, her birthday, Valentine's Day. I suppose he had other things on his mind.

The big ticket eBay item is packaged, the invoice has been sent, and I'm awaiting payment. I can never keep it straight, is it good or bad for me if the US dollar drops against the Canadian dollar in the time between him sending the payment and me receiving it? I'm not sure there really is a lag. The payment will be in USD, regardless, so maybe it makes no difference anyway. I rediscovered the reason I'm amazed at the selling price. I had researched the artist's work at recent comic auctions. In August of 2006, a piece better than mine and similar to another I own went for $310. Mine went for more than four times that eighteen months later. Timing is everything.

At some point, the two sets of future in-laws need to meet. We have spoken with FMIL, who apparently is just as much a seamstress as GW. FFIL and I may just go off drinking somewhere while they discuss cloth and threads and such. "Hey, how 'bout them Lions?" Nothing is in the offing, but I would like to meet them, and FSIL's sister, sooner than the week before the wedding if that's possible.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

I highly, highly recommend at least one meeting prior to the Wedding Week.

One of the areas where my mother really "screwed the pooch" was in "fostering a relationship with the other parents." She learned from it and did a better job with the in-laws of my other siblings.

I'm enjoying this blog, but with five month to go, how could there be news every day? Maybe this is just a suspension of disbelief problem for me. 8)

If you're being paid in USD, it makes no difference to you. If the US dollar drops before the buyer pays you, it's good for him.

My mother-in-law's pooch remains sated.

Yiddish has a word for 'mydaughter-in-law's mother" and all the other versions of that. It is no wonder English does not. I do not know, nor is it missing that I do not know, Mr Pealette's parents.

no pooch has been screwed in these parts.
