The trivia question on the Retro Rewind at the ballpark a few weeks ago was along the lines of "The opening line from the movie The Breakfast Club came from a song by which artist?" so I had been reading about it recently, which is what brought it to mind, not any particular scene. I like it and should hunt it down and watch it again. Sixteen Candles will always be a favorite guilty pleasure...

My older bro and I both do the daily rag's crossword, but it usually takes the two of us together to finish the NYT one. Congrats lb, and Cal, and whoever else does it - it is a big accomplishment and deserves bragging rights.

I hope Viper reads this..... after a bunch of near-misses the last couple months, I just added a third NYT Sunday puzzle perfecto to my resume last night.... and this one in just an hour's worth of time....

The Saturday puzzles are indeed the most difficult of the week, with Friday not far behind. The Sunday puzzle is generally somewhere around the level of the average Thursday puzzle, but are 21x21 (and occasionally 23x23) instead of the daily 15x15.
Speaking of which, this Friday I'll be off to Brooklyn for my fourth trip to the
American Crossword Puzzle Tournament. Wish me luck; I'll need it this year...
