Just for the record, I want to remind everyone that many months ago (and about two boards ago), I said that as soon as the rest of the country found out what a nut job/phony/moral cypher Rudy is, he'd fall harder than a bag of doorknobs.
It may be the only correct political prediction I ever make.

I am about 25% sure of this.

Possibly correct, but not for that reason, IMO. I'd say it was a major mistake, and major act of hubris, by him and his counselors to think that he could totally ignore the early caucuses and primaries with all their attendant publicity, and expect to win the later ones. Yeah, sure, he's been active in FL and the others, but no one was paying attention, especially the media. He was jogging while the others were running.nitrah55 wrote:Just for the record, I want to remind everyone that many months ago (and about two boards ago), I said that as soon as the rest of the country found out what a nut job/phony/moral cypher Rudy is, he'd fall harder than a bag of doorknobs.

I was/is his arrogance that had him do that. He thinks 9/11 will carry him.gsabc wrote:Possibly correct, but not for that reason, IMO. In fact, not even all voters in NYC love Rudy. Until 9/11, he was merely a good, but not great Mayor (both Bloomberg and Koch have been significantly better for the city). NYC was suffering from Rudy fatigue. He couldn't run again because of term limits, but even if he could, I don't think he would have won again (in the absence of 9/11).peacock2121 wrote:Even the Marist poll (from NY) has Rudy losing New York.
I told someone over the summer that not all New Yorkers love Rudy. They seemed surprised. People forget there is NY outside of the five boroughs.
We upstaters is what got us Hillary.
That being said, I'll still be voting for him in the primary here. Anytime I see candidates like Huckabee running, I wonder again why I'm registered as a Republican. And although McCain doesn't have the taint of religion that I so despise in a political candidate, when you scratch the surface, it turns out he's just as far to the right as Huckabee.
And despite my being a Republican, Giuliani is the only Republican candidate who I could see voting for in November. Unless, of course, Bloomberg buys his way into the election.

I'm kind of relieved that Giuliani is tanking, especially after reading this article in the New York Times:

Basically it says the man was very, very good at holding a grudge and was not shy about using the city government to stick it to people on his sh*t list. I think he did some good things as mayor, but I sure as hell don't want him as my president.
