Not only was she the cutest contestant EVER, she was quite good at the game.
She took a few reasonable risks on logical guesses early on that helped preserve her lifelines.

Too bad her son was such a poor phone a friend!

This was one of the best question stacks I've seen in a while. I wish I could've been on this show to receive these questions. I would've used ATA on the $15,000 question. I knew the answers to her $25K, $50K, and $100,000 questions. Id be going for $250,000 with three lifelines left.

Citing a dearth of senior contestants as inspiration, an invigorated 79-year-old Cliftonite conquered a test, an audition and then the hot seat of the hit game show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" before walking away with a hefty $50,000 check in her name.
But is the dearth of senior contestants because they don't try out or because TPTB don't want them?
She said she was never an avid "Millionaire" viewer, however, and only broached the possibility of appearing on the show after a friend's e-mail urged her to try out.

Harvey kindly declined initially, believing she was too old for a program in which the majority of its contestants are in their 30s and 40s.*

"Well, audition, what have you got to lose," she recalls her friend Shelley saying.
Ah, the reluctant inspiration.

Well, maybe some twenty-something APs might be inspired to "take a chance" on more contestants who don't meet their standard list of demographic desirables.

Jackson and JQA were in a contested election (1824, IIRC), so it's not either of them. Use the DD and make A and B my final answers. [Thanks to Marley for pointing out my confusion on this.]

Of course, that presumes the audience would give you a good answer on an economics question, albeit one that could be reasoned from the title of the treatise. It's just as likely that they would have gone with "supply and demand," the phrase most lay people know, or that they would have split very widely.

Well, we can obviously eliminate JQA and Jackson, thanks to the infamous 1824 election in which Jackson had the most electoral votes and popular votes, but the House picked JQA. I kinda wish I had that Double Dip back. I don't know if either the audience or the "expert" would have any clue on this, but I'll most likely have to use both of them. And most likely walk away.

Well, I'm confused - I already used the ATA on the Pamela Anderson question, so I must have had a brain lapse. I should have said "use the DD" because Jackson and Adams were in a contested election against each other.

Wikipedia says Washington lead the troops during the Whiskey Rebellion. I presume the references they list will confirm that.

But, okay, these troops didn't actually find any of the rebellious to do battle with, so it doesn't count.

Monroe was not President during the War of 1812, he was elected in 1816, nearly two years after the War ended.

He is cool because he won all but one of the Electoral Votes: one Elector decided that only Washington should win unanimously, and so gave his vote to someone else.

I remember there was a Boondocks comic strip about this after Schwarzenegger was elected governor. Huey had said something to the effect "First 'The Body' gets elected in Minnesota, now Arnold in California. Looks like they are just going through the cast of Predator. If I see Governor 'Action Jackson' I'm done!"
