I recall the Obama movie story - I remember thinking it was too good to be true, or something - though the first date I went on with my current gal was The Wrestler, so go figure.

Keep in mind that it may or may not be the actual movie that they saw on their first date (or they may not have seen a movie on that first date). It is what they have said that they saw, at least since late 2007. It may be true, it may not be true. I certainly was not there.

(From what I have read, it was quite the first date. Art Museum, drinks, movie, and ice cream, where they shared their first kiss. )

Although I hate rap, I could get the rap question just because I remember Flav having a band called NWA while I was in h.s., which was quite controversial. Therefore, he had to be the only one older than I am.

Well reasoned, except:

- Public Enemy and NWA (Niggaz with Attitudes) were both huge hip hop groups of the mid-late 1980s.

- Flava Flav was in Public Enemy.

- Ice Cube was in NWA.

Public Enemy was started in the early 80s. They had at least a 5 year jump on NWA.

What did his being born that year have to do with anything? Even if you were an adult in 1989 you would not have known this unless you heard or read about it in the last year or so. Some of the younger contestants use their age as an excuse even when it does not apply.

My first movie date with my husband was Sleepers--all about molestation in a juvenile detention center. We didn't realize that was what it was about and laughed about how it was our first movie together!

All the movies at the local theatres were too violent, so SteelersFan took me to a free showing of some old western movie -- Tie a Yellow Ribbon, or something.

Sleepers was horrific. I'm really glad I saw it at home so I could fast foward through the horrible parts.

I learned this answer during the ignauguaration broadcasts--it was repeated by at least three networks----I'm sure Sam Donaldson would have known this so soon after the campaign--was severely questioning contestants choice of life-lines and then he choices the white corn bread movie as his first choice--just another example of a white contestant flaming out on a black question which happened quite alot in da old days--why in da world would a young African -american couple go see When Harry met Sally when those three other movies were there to be seen--especially two young social activists--had I needed the double dip--Glory and Do th eRight Thing would have made much better choices given the couple

There isn't really a way for a young person such as myself to study stuff like that. On the other hand, I can easily read up on classic movies and books from stuff like AFI lists, bestseller lists, etc. I don't feel like I'm ignorant for not knowing the stuff that I mentioned before, just unlucky.

And even the "freshness" of those names that you mentioned, Estonut, these days pale in comparison to the likes of names like The Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, and, yes, Hayden Panettiere (IIRC, there was more than one person in chat last night who chimed in with a "Who's that?" when her name was read).
