If it's stylish enough for L.L.Bean, it's stylish enough for me.

I'm pretty sure this would be considered rape under Texas law. Calvinator can probably confirm or correct me if I'm wrong.PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote: One of my mom's friends had a baby, out of wedlock about sixteen years ago. The father was never in the child's life. The child, now, 16, just had a baby. (Neither she nor the father have high school diplomas, though the father, who can legally drink, recently got a GED.)
My mom's friend told her daughter that she must finish high school and she should marry the baby's father. Her daughter's response, "well, I don't want to get married, I am just not into him."
It would be rape in Virginia, but not in Maryland (where I originally practiced): in Maryland, the age of consent is 14. Maryland has a 'Romeo and Juliet' rule, which 'exempts' the boy from a rape charge if he is no more than four years older than the girl, and Spears's beau is apparently more than four years older than she is, but since she is over 14, it would not be rape in Maryland.TheConfessor wrote:I'm pretty sure this would be considered rape under Texas law. Unless Texas has changed its law, it would be a sexual assault of a minor, as the "victim" is over 14 years old but younger than 17, and there is more than a three-year difference in age. (It is aggravated if the victim is under 14. Also, marriage is a defense.) It appears that this is a second-degree felony.TheConfessor wrote:I'm pretty sure this would be considered rape under Texas law.
