Flat on my back today.

#1 Post by nitrah55 » Fri Mar 27, 2009 9:59 am

In the throes of that MAWG malady- lower back pain.

Twinged my back just leaning over Saturday night. Been in off and on agony since. Managed the hour drive to work a couple times this week but couldn't make it today. Awaiting insurance clearance for MRI. Disc or just muscle spasm? Stay tuned.
I am about 25% sure of this.

I'm gonna stop leaning over then.

And I'm gonna stop bending over backwards keeping my postal count up.

Seriously, I've had a bad back since my twenties and it flares up every once in a while. It's always muscular and rest and drugs usually take care of it. I hope yours is not disc related.

I hope you feel better soon. I hurt my back a few years ago and it was awful, I was home on the couch for a couple of weeks. Want me to send you the narcotics I got for my 1st degreen burn?? (I still don't get that)

Best wishes for a speedy recovery...and no sneezing...

My chiropractor is my friend. You should give Moonbeam a call. Seriously.

I used to waste a couple weeks in bed suffering with lower back pain every time I would tweak it, until I discovered "trigger point" injections, administered by a Pain Management and Rehab Specialist (M.D.).

24 - 36 hrs later - pain completely GONE. I wonder if it would help you? May be worth a try.

Of course, once you're all better you can brag, "I had a weak back, about a week back..."

Ooohhh... Been there done that many times over. Been to a chiro many times as well. However, several years ago I went to see my GP and he prescribed something that has caused my lower back pain not to re-appear (except if I seriously over-exert). When I had the back pain, he told me to put alternating hot and cold compresses on the affected area. This worked great and I use this method whenever I feel a twinge of pain in my lower back. Also, he told me to take a 500mg Vitamin C pill every day. I have been doing this for about 6 years now and have not had a serious lower back attack since. I am a little stiff in the AM when I first get up but after about 15-20 minutes, I'm fine. I'm not saying it will work for you, but it might be worth trying.

Hope you feel better soon.

Update: after keeping myself mostly inert since Friday morning, I am feeling better. Now, I only have pain if I realy do something stupid, which I haven't done in a while.

The disc/muscle spasm issue will not be resolved anytime soon, because my insurance company will not pay for an MRI unless/until I do about a month of PT and things don't get any better.

Fortunately, I'd already booked PT starting Monday.

Back to the DVD player. I'm having a Preston Sturgis/Harold Lloyd film festival.
