The fight song was a love fest for the tuba player. The only time the poor tuba player had any glory and got to be all sexy and stuff with the bad ass tuba riff in the song.
This totally cracks me up! My ex went to Wasson, which he would reel off as RoyJWassonHighSchool2115AftonWayColoradoSpringsCO80909. I don't remember his mentioning the Thunderboard. One of my co-workers is from Manitou Springs, I'll ask him if he remembers anything about it.

He must've said it a lot if you still remember Roy's middle initial and the address! (You even got the ZIP code right, btw). When did he go? It would be funny if I knew him, although my only full year of high school was 10th grade.

The Thunderboard is no big whoop and I doubt anyone from another school would be aware of it. It was just a big posting board with messages and announcements and lists and stuff. Which is kind of the same as this board plus, whenever someone mentions tubas I always think of the Thunderbird Fight Song.

The Raspberry Bored. Isn't "PHPBB" the sound of a raspberry/Bronx cheer?
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

TRB
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Hey now, I had plenty of glory and got to be all sexy and stuff plenty of times without the help of some fight song.

(Of course, delusions of grandeur are fairly common amongst tuba players, so I could be wrong about all of that.)

Yeah, what he said. Especially the first part. 8)

Yeah, that was me. Occasional bursts of originality followed by long stretches of mundanity. Obviously I was in the latter when I came up with my screen name here. :D

Yep, he did. He also would reel off something twice as long about a 1972 Ford truck that he owned. He graduated Wasson in 1971. Based on where he lived, he should have gone to the new high school his senior year, but there was something called "senior option" so he got to graduate with his buddies.

Speaking of remembering zip codes, a couple years ago I amazed my friends with "and that's from Spiegel, Chicago, Illinois, 60609." "Thank you, Johnny Olson. What's the next item up on The Price is Right?!"

I vote for Raspberry Board, early and often.

By the way, who here knows (and I'm sure someone other than me does) how it is the word "raspberry" is used to describe a sound intended to resemble a fart?
I am about 25% sure of this.

I'm liking this, not only for its play on "PHPBB" but because it neatly summarizes our response to TPTB's dastardly efforts to silence us by sinking the TUB.

I had 3 zip codes I used primarily:
60609 (courtesy of Spiegel);
90210 (courtesy of the TV show);
10101 (courtesy of Letterman's morning show in 1980).

That was a decade before me, and even if he had much younger siblings I wouldn't know them if they didn't live near me, as I'm assuming the new school was Doherty.

The ZIP code I have never forgotten is Zoom, Boston, Mass. 02134
