Lighten up, pea.

We're debating an issue, trivial as it may or may not be, and while there may be a hundred BBs expressing two hundred different opinions, I'm just saying there are, in general, loosely defined, approximately two different sides to the opinions here.
Look the word up, Marley.

If you didn't mean it as defined, what did you mean?

If you meant it as defined, I am insulted and will not lighten up.

That is, until I do lighten up.

I believe (it is my humble opinion that) there are two more in general and loosely defined, and equally valid, sides:

1. The group which doesn't care at all.

2. The group which cares only insofar as there is an opportunity for smartassery.
I believe there is a third:

3. The group that knows that Hello Kitty fixes everything...and that diverse types can all co-exist peacefully!!

OK, I'll stop the sarcasm.

The resolution you suggest--removing certain individuals from the list of moderators--is one option.

Another option is to leave them as moderators (possibly adding you or someone else to the moderator list to look over their shoulders in the Internal Affairs capacity) and trust that they will take the recent criticism to heart. As pea said yesterday:
Maybe forgive all the past nonsense they have done and start with a clean slate.
This second option does leave open the possibility that certain moderators will still use their power in a way that will open them to further tongue lashing at some future time. It is, therefore, not as final a resolution as the first option. IMHO, it is also less punitive or retaliatory or judgemental of the relative worth of any moderators or moderation than the fist option.

How about loquacious?
Bingo!

From Merriam-Webster:
Main Entry:
fac·tion Listen to the pronunciation of faction
Pronunciation:
\ˈfak-shən\
Function:
noun
Etymology:
Middle French & Latin; Middle French, from Latin faction-, factio act of making, faction — more at fashion
Date:
1509

1 : a party or group (as within a government) that is often contentious or self-seeking : clique
2 : party spirit especially when marked by dissension
I did not mean it in the sense of definition 1: "often...self-seeking". If that offended you, I apologize for it. For the rest, has we not had dissension on this issue?

But enough. I'm done.

In my opinion, it's judgmental and insulting to add somebody with the express purpose of monitoring and policing their actions. If someone is to the point of having to have someone looking over their shoulder (your words) and having their every move tracked, then why are they in that position in the first place? (I'm not saying any of this applies to anybody/moderator here, just that you continually suggesting this and thinking that it's a good idea and a gracious solution really puzzles me.)

Although I do like the fist option. Ha!

This is where Marley and I agree to disagree.

I believe that eliminating the greenies contains no punitive or retaliatory aspects. It says, we have all the moderation we need in the form of the three brownies. That makes it the simplest and resolves all the discussion of the past couple days. And it does have the beauty of finality.

For the serious part of this, I still suggest a rotation. Perhaps monthly, quarterly, semi-whatever. Why must all the eggs be in one basket?

I just want a turn for one little day. 8)

Quite a bit - I figure I'd be pretty much near the bottom of that list.
