Advice on bringing Christmas cheer.

#1 Post by nitrah55 » Tue Dec 23, 2008 9:45 am

Our garbage collectors leave us a card reminding us that it is the time of year when we remember to remember them with a tip.

Importantly, they tell us, we should be sure to tape the envelope containing the tip on the inside of the garbage can lid, so it won't get wet or blow away.

I would have never thought of that.
I am about 25% sure of this.

No, I am in dead earnest.

That sounds like an entry in the Ghoul Pool, doesn't it?

I hope the tip doesn't fall INTO BiT's garbage can! You never know what you'll find in there.........
But I only hurt a LITTLE BiT!

I remember Jim Varney on Hollywood Squares. When asked where 70 percent of our wine comes from, his joke answer was, "The 7-11."

Our newspaper deliverers did the same thing -- nothing about the garbage can, of course, but they did give us a little Chirstmas message as a tip reminder.

Service has been dreadful this year, so I wasn't going to give them anything, but SteelersFan gave them $10. He said he remembered what it was like to be a paper boy.

This whole 'tipping at Christmas' thing makes me crazy.

It just always seems I am never on the "getting a tip" end of the conversation.

How can that be?

I think I'm going to tip your curly-haired, day-shift ID Falls Mecca counterpart. Who knows, maybe it will catch on to all the other Meccas. You can thank me later, or blame Rexer if it doesn't work.

We used to have a very strict company policy about no employees being able to accept gratuities, but I haven't heard about that or saw any signs in the break room for a few years, so maybe it was done away with....

Not that anyone's ever offered me one anyway.....

I like Christmas tipping. No shopping involved. The recipient is always happy to receive it. It's NEVER too big!

Buying presents for relatives is a pain in the ass, though. For kids, not so much. That's fun!

Probably couldn't enforce it.
