Holy Crap! I didn't know there were so many ways to have that lamp and the box it came in.

*Sniff*

I just showed it to Keith -- wouldn't it just look great in our (teeny-tiny) front yard, next to the Charlie Brown/Snoopy Snow Globe & the Steelers Snow Globe?

Nope, he won't stand for it! LOL

I guess I could always settle for this version:
Image

Oh.....what are we having? Ham with pineapple, sweet taters, green beans....keepin' it simple :D

Then on New Years Eve I will take the ham bone & whatever meat is left on it and make a biiiiggggg pot of split pea soup!

Christmas Eve:

Beef Tenderloin Roast
Cranberry Horseradish Relish
Roasted Root Vegetables
Some Vegetable
Salad
A couple of bottles of Bordeaux from the cellar

Christmas Morn:
Homemade Stollen w/ lots of butter - a tradition from my family that mrsgtg just doesn't get
Eggs
Bacon

Christmas:
Roasted Squash Soup
Turkey
Stuffing (cooked outside the turkey for vegetarian sis)
Quinoa/Sweet Potato thingie (my first attmept at a Top Chef cookbook recipe)
More wine (prolly some Pinot for some/Viognier for others)

I will run about 6 miles early x-mas afternoon so that I will need my own ZIP coce following these two days.

I am absolutely flabbergasted that you all don't have turkey for Christmas dinner! Here in Ontario, my family were the weird ones for having ham.

Turkey is THE dinner.

We'll have all the usual stuff:

Turkey
Mshed Potatoes
Dressing
Gravy
Corn
Bean Casserole
Broccoli Salad
Raspberry Jello Salad
Buns
Cranberry Sauce

Then all the damn baking I've been doing for weeks as dessert.

Along with many bottles of wine.

Maybe it's because you had turkey just a month ago. We haven't had it since the 2nd Monday in October so it seems special.

Well, gotta remember that we here in the States had turkey less than a month ago! It's too soon to do another turkey dinner.

I'm more amazed at how many are having beef rather than ham!

To me, Thanksgiving = Turkey, Christmas = Ham, Easter = either Ham or Leg of Lamb.

I'm not making anything. I'll be eating whatever my mom makes.

Our family Christmas dinner will be on Friday night this year and we'll have pork chops. Guaranteed. There will be other food on the table but that stuff is all secondary to the pork chops. I think this will be somewhere around the 30th straight year that my mom has made pork chops for Christmas.

Sunday will be the big (100s of people) extended family Christmas dinner. That one will be built around turkey.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Saucy, we'd love to have you and James!

Incidently, my son-in-law bought a copy of the leg lamp and displays it in their front window every Christmas. They even have people come to their door saying "Hey, man, I love your lamp!"

Thanksgiving and Christmas are the only two times each year I get to have turkey, so dangit, my mom makes a turkey for Christmas!

It is never too soon to have turkey. It should be served once a month.... and not that deli crap, the real McCoy.....

Since Sunflower shot me down, I'm making nothing and liking it.

Well, maybe I'll have some cranberries. In a can, as God intended (if I can find the can opener through my tears).

I don't know what's all up with this fancy schmancy beef this and roast that stuff.

Thanksgiving = Turkey.

Christmas = Turkey.

I think Easter = Turkey as well, although it might be Ham. We don't celebrate Easter very often, so I forget.

I think we always had turkey for Christmas because we had ham for Christmas Eve. Christmas Eve dinner I'd only have ham and jello because I didn't like anything else (baked beans, au gratins, ick). One year my cousin and I decided to make fried chicken and spaghetti for us. Everybody ate their regular CE dinner. And then ate all our chicken and spaghetti. But we still weren't able to turn traditional CE dinner into Fried chicken and Spaghetti Night.

After my grandma passed and we didn't have family CE anymore, we kept CD dinner as it was, since it has all the good stuff (turkey, mashed potatoes, corn) v. yuck stuff (ham, au gratin potatoes, baked beans).
