Ok, I just want you all to know that I will make the supreme sacrifice and run for office on behalf of Republicans if they will buy me $150,000 worth of clothes. Half of it has to be spent on shoes.

I am curious about the tax ramifications about the wardrobe. Are the clothes a "gift" from the Republican Party and so are they paying "gift taxes" on the items? Are the clothes renumeration for Sarah Palin for the work that she is doing, if so will she get a 1099 at the end of the year and have to pay taxes on the clothes. Is she just borrowing the clothes and do they really belong to the Republican Party.

I don't care about the price tag on the wardrobe either. It's their gum, they can chew it however they want.
I will say that a poster here, when she first came aboard, said that she "dresses poorly," and one of my local friends said that she "looks dowdy." They're not saying anything now. JMHO, I think it's in the Reps' best interests to keep her looking sharp. Again, I don't care. It's their gum, etc. etc.
What makes me crazy is that I bet some of the folkses who are blasting away at anybody who has the temerity to bring it up were the first ones to blast away at Edwards for the pricey haircut. Edwards is rich. He should get pricey haircuts. It's his gum, etc. etc. . . .

When Barack Obama went on a shopping spree with Hart Schaffner Marx before his nomination acceptance speech in Denver, few people blinked over his new $1,500 suit. He has even gone on to buy a couple more. But it was also conveniently revealed that Hart Schaffner Marx is an American label that manufactures its tailored clothing in Des Plaines, Ill. John McCain's $520 Ferragamo shoes aren't that big of a deal either, despite what his critics had to say.

Surely the governor of Alaska has clothing of her own that is sufficiently presentable for public occasions in the Lower 48. If you really want to promote yourself as a "Joe SixPack", maybe let people know that you've appeared in front of the state legislature in a "Chez Target" special?
