Danger: Beware of Falling Cows
Nov 6 02:27 PM US/Eastern
MANSON, Wash. (AP) - Charles and Linda Everson were driving back to their hotel when their minivan was struck by a falling object—a 600-pound cow.
The Eversons were unhurt but the cow, which had fallen off a cliff, had to be euthanized.
The year-old cow fell about 200 feet from the cliff and landed on the hood of the couple's minivan, causing heavy damage.
A Chelan County fire chief, Arnold Baker, said the couple missed being killed by a matter of inches in the accident Sunday on a highway near Manson.
The Eversons, visiting the area from their home in Westland, Mich., to celebrate their first wedding anniversary, were checked at Lake Chelan Community Hospital as a precaution.
Everson, 49, said he didn't see the cow falling and didn't know what happened until afterward.
He said he kept repeating: "I don't believe this. I don't believe this."

My insurance company was dubious about the power pole until they saw the photographs. The agent called me to reduce the deductible, which was less for "a falling object" than a collision.MarleysGh0st wrote:Yeesh!Chicken Little wrote:He said he kept repeating: "I don't believe this. I don't know any rats. I only associate with viruses or bacteria, not their means of transportation.Squashed Hamster wrote:Booger-Veggie World wrote:You lightweights. Bring on that Norwalk guy. Insurance lesson:
Comprehensive covers damage "other than collision" i.e. falling objects, vandalism, theft, flood, hail, you get the picture.
Collision is a completely different coverage. Depending on the individual policy, the deductible might be the same or it might be different. You can have comprehensive with NO deductible. You cannot have collision coverage with NO deductible. Obviously, SC has two different deductibles on her comprehensive & collision coverage.
SC did not collide with the pole, the pole fell on her car. It was a comprehensive loss. There was no way the agent could have charged her a higher deductible once the cause of the loss was determined. He was simply doing his job. Sadly, most people hit the pole, not vice versa.
Prolly TMI ....part of that "ask a simple question" syndrome" we have around here.
