B4 Team-Check In

How are you doing this week? Good, not so good, or poopy.


Please blather if you feel like it.








Don't have much time to chat because I am running oft to the Nutcracker Market--it's the big fundraiser for the Houston Ballet.

I am on track for my half marathon training. Getting through the muscle sore stage. Got fitted for some new running shoes--I told the guy what problems I was having, and eventually he thought that maybe I would do better in some mens running shoes. That they would give me a little more width for long runs. We'll see.

I will post the PCLT later when I have more time. Get your November points in. :)

Baby steps.

Haven't been exercising as much as I planned, but I've cut back (again) on the late night snacks. Golf today, and then a three day weekend where I should be able to exercise at least once each of those three days.

I don't remember. My sleep has been major sucky, courtesy of the Nighttime Screamer. Last night I just took her to bed with me since Steve is gone, and she slept well except for tumbling off at 4:44 am. I just scooped her up and put her back and she drifted off again.

I hope this is Just A Phase....

First Friday in two weeks I haven't had a sore throat and just felt bad generally. I got some walking in and ate semi healthy.

I do have a slight headache this morning that I am hoping will go away with the 2 Motrin I just took. I haven't opened that new book yet, but I promise I will tomorrow.

Desperately trying to avoid the colds and other illnesses running through the company. Vitamins, exercise, trying only to exhale ...

Number one on my list has to be getting over the Sad Card, which already resides in the paper recycling bag. Was decidedly grumpy last night. And the eating for comfort bit was not good for the numbers on my scale this morning. Those need to drop back down a couple as well. At least I've held my indulgence in that decadent chocolate cake to two reasonable-sized slices. (Oh, and I misspoke about the cake's ingredients. It's not 18 ounces of chocolate and a cup-and-a-half of heavy cream. It's TWO-and-a-half cups of heavy cream. I'm putting on weight just thinking about it.)
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

I'm doing OK. I worked out twice this week. DH has been sick for three days now, but I have not caught it so far. I got my flu shot. I bought some ice cream bars called "Absolutely Free" yesterday--fat free and 80 calories. They are not exactly good, but not exactly bad either. They will do for now as an ice cream substitute. I broke and had one sugared sweet tea so far this week.

I promised all over the place to eat sitting down, with a plate and a fork and a placemat and a napkin. That seemed to help. I did it most every day.

I also slept through the night last night for the first time in recent memory.

I am handling some stress with the neighbors quite well. My panic mode has lessened. That is a great thing.

Not much to report as I am in a deep rut. May get one more chance to play golf this year as it might reach the upper 50's tomorrow.

First snow, if you can call what we had--- snow, happened yesterday but it was above freezing so nothing stuck. Painful reminder of what lies ahead the next couple of months. At least I will be able to get Pres points for shoveling.

Hey kusch, have you ever tried or even thought about yoga?

Only reason I ask is because I've heard from others that it's great for the golf swing, with the added ND plus of being something you can do in your own home year-round without a bunch of expensive equipment.

It has this reputation as being a little girly, but since you're not bdm, I figure you can get past that....



p.s. my wife hates it when guys are near her in her yoga class, because they always fart in the tough spots. :oops:

No, I have never thought about trying yoga. My oldest daughter does it. I doubt if I would try it, but you never know.

I know I did not do the "quote" thing right, maybe some day I will learn how.

Ummm.

Getting this thread back on topic, it was a generally poor week, with isolated bright spots. I got to the gym twice; getting back to standard time makes it a little easier getting out of bed. OTOH, way too much snacking has been going on.

Today's weight = 193.0. Moving average = 193.3. Ugh!

I am lifting weights more often, which helps vent some of the frustration at work. I have chosen March 8 of next year as my date to evaluate do I want to stay, as it's my 20th anniversary. I'd planned to retire at 55 and go into foster kid-raising and cat rescue and teaching. Now I'm not sure if I will be there that long.

I had not realized until a couple of days ago, I am perceived by my coworkers in a way I don't want to be perceived. So I am going to change my shoes. What I mean is, when you wear fancy shoes or heels, you stand up straighter. It changes the way you present yourself. So I am going to start two new strategies that will have that same effect.

I'm told I have been contributing too many opinions for someone who is new to the team. They like my energy and hard work but not so much the opinions. Since I am not very subtle about figuring out when to speak up and when not, I will just be quiet. The people who want my ideas can ask for them. Maybe someday down the road I will be better at knowing when I'm welcome to speak up. Until then, they will have to tell me when they are making rhetorical complaints and when they really do want something fixed.

Whew. That all does have to do with my health, I promise.

What you described at work is often found in male/female relationships. Generally, females just want their men to listen and not try ot fix - they just want to be heard and don't want their complaint taken care of or given ideas on how it could be fixed.

I know of many couples who have handled that issue without making the man just be quiet. He asks "Is this something you just want to get off your chest or is this something you want to see if we can fix together?"

You could try some version of that - you just have to make sure you don't have any judgement about that they shouldn't be talking about it if they don't want it fixed. If you ask the question from that place - you will just piss them off even more.

Sorry you are having a hard time.

I also notice you didn't ask for help and yet....... I offered.
