Because Pierre-Paul is not under contract, the Giants can put him on the non-football injury list and aren't required to pay him, according to my understanding, if he's not ready to play.

The degree of stupidity Pierre-Paul displayed here is staggering considering the possible financial implications.

I just saw on the news that he had a finger amputated. Also some guy on the Bucs lost two fingers to a firework. I didn't catch the name.

Back to the original thread, a 23-year-old man has been arrested on manslaughter charges in connection with the death of the 16-year-old girl.

In the city of Atlanta alone (and that doesn't include all the suburbs), there were 155 complaints made to the police department between Friday and Sunday and one arrest:

Interestingly, the law prohibits fireworks near gas stations and nuclear power plants but nowhere else. The arrest occurred near Hartsfield Airport, another area one would think would be a poor place to set off fireworks for a number of reasons.

You'd be surprised how little force it takes to break bone, especially if it's confined to a small surface area. And I love "ground only" ordinances. If firecrackers can explode in the air, so can anything else. Everybody tries to write ordinances to make it look like they're not banning fireworks, and those laws usually wind up looking foolish.

I wish there were an easy solution.
