They have videos from midnight-ish to 8 am! That's my fave viewing time for Vh1. We were playing Yahtzee at my mom's house Saturday night and she let us turn the tv on to Fuse, so we got to listen to tunes while we played. Luckily, disaster was averted. Because nobody wanted that. Nothing can kill a Yahtzee buzz quicker than Garth Brooks. Ha!

Jimmy Dale Gilmore was Smokey! He's also a musician and seriously the only name I could think of for Sugar Shack (Jimmy Gilmer, duh!).

You'd never heard of Hoyt Axton??? I'm following my rule for writers. I only put them down if I think of it as "their" song. To me, In the Ghetto is a Mac Davis song. (Although, like Tbone, I can't think of it without hearing Cartman singing it in my head.)

I don't think I used the 'Nam/bowling quote in an LS, but it was a signature on one of my IDs for a while. Jimmy Dale Gilmore was Smokey! He's also a musician and seriously the only name I could think of for Sugar Shack (Jimmy Gilmer, duh!).

I know you put down who you associate with each song, and I have come to accept that. I do have to admit I wasn't aware Mac Davis did "In the Ghetto", but I didn't deem it JJCP worthy newfound knowledge. And I thought I said at the time I'd never heard of Hoyt Axton. Seriously, no clue he even existed... ala Mr. Cale.

And now that I have looked up JDG, I see he was in The Big Lebowski, which i assume is where the quote comes from (No, I haven't seen the movie, but I knew it was about bowling, and it would've been my first guess if that quote were on a quiz)....
