As if! I've read all the books a gazillion times, plus I have the ancillary stuff she wrote. You just reminded me I bought three copies of Beedle the Bard at Christmastime, saving one for myself. I think I'll bring it to read on the plane this weekend, so :P to you, youngster.
That's why I like you Ms. Mini. Also, you advocate for better LS songs for the young so I owe you for that...

And I just realized two things 1) It's very good I learned how to act cool before high school and 2) I hope Sprots reads the Harry Potter part b/c no one else is going to understand it.

LOL! I was going to reply to this that I could guarantee I wasn't the only one who would understand the HP part, then I had the good sense to finish the thread.

Well done, Mini! Santa brought me Tales of Beedle the Bard for Christmas too.

tries to run, but he don't get far

In the Ghetto - Elvis

5. (1972) But I ain't forgetting that you were once mine,
but I blew it without even tryin'.
Now I'm eatin' my heart out,
tryin' to get a letter through

6. (1975) Write your problems down in detail
Take them to a higher place
You've had your cry - no, I should say wail
In the meantime hush your face

7. (1978) I held her close until the storm passed

Both our bodies drying in the sunshine, sweet sunshine

8. (1981) Life isn't easy from the singular side

Did OCDer write the lyrics to this song???

Pride will tear us both apart.
Well now pride's gone out the window, cross the rooftops, runaway.
Left me in the vacuum of my heart

These lyrics are downright disgusting and scary at the same time!

These lyrics - well, no comment is probably best here - good grief!

Sugar Shack - Jimmie Dale Gilmore That's not right and I know I won't get credit. Because this isn't 'Nam. There are rules. (But we'll see if you get that. Ha!)

3. (1966) That's the way the whole thing started
Silly but it's true

You Wear It Well - Rod Stewart (The best Rod Stewart song ever, with the possible exception of Reason to Believe.)

6. (1975) Write your problems down in detail
Take them to a higher place
You've had your cry - no, I should say wail
In the meantime hush your face

Bloody Well Right - Supertramp

7. (1978) I held her close until the storm passed

It's on your head - it's a habit that's hard to break

Now I know that happiness goes on
That's where you found me
When you put your arms around me

The Longest Time - Billy Joel (you know, that video in the courtroom....)

10. (1987) Now I'm walking again to the beat of a drum
And I'm counting the steps to the door of your heart
Only the shadows ahead barely clearing the roof
Get to know the feeling of liberation and relief

Don't Dream It's Over - Crowded House (since you're probably being a stickler for the year you gave)

11. (1990) She likes it neat
And he makes a mess
I take it easy
Baby I get obsessed

Opposites Attract - Paula Abdul (the video was also credited to MC Skat Cat or some such shit, but the actual record probably wasn't)

12. (1993) Passion or coincidence once prompted me to say-
Pride will tear us both apart.
Well now pride's gone out the window, cross the rooftops, runaway.
Left me in the vacuum of my heart

Mid 90's to mid 2000's are my weak spot.

13. (1996) Oh, I really should have known
By the time you drove me home
By the vagueness in your eyes, your casual good-byes

About that weak spot....

14. (1999) We'll fight, not out of spite
for someone must stand up for what's right

I told you it's a weak spot, dammit!

In the Ghetto-Elvis Presley. Also Eric Cartman on "South Park". Once yo uhear Cartman sing a song, his is the voice you always hear when you think of the song. "Come Sail Away" has been forever stolen from Styx for me for the same reason. Even "Oh Holy Night', which used to bring a lump to my throat, now threatens to make me chuckle thanks to Cartman.

They have videos from midnight-ish to 8 am! That's my fave viewing time for Vh1. We were playing Yahtzee at my mom's house Saturday night and she let us turn the tv on to Fuse, so we got to listen to tunes while we played. But she kept threatening to make us turn it off and put on her Garth Brooks cd!

Luckily, disaster was averted. Because nobody wanted that. Nothing can kill a Yahtzee buzz quicker than Garth Brooks. Ha!

You've had your cry - no, I should say wail
In the meantime hush your face
Bloody Well Right - Supertramp (Speaking of the Captain, I coulda went with "Love Will Keep Us Together" for this one since it was the #1 song on the day I was born, but I spared you all...)

7. (1978) I held her close until the storm passed
And we fell down laughing in the wet grass
Both our bodies drying in the sunshine, sweet sunshine
Thunder Island - Jay Ferguson

8. (1981) Life isn't easy from the singular side
Down in the hole some emotions are hard to hide
It's your decision - it's the chance that you take
It's on your head - it's a habit that's hard to break
In the Dark - Billy Squier (I can't remember who cut this one down, but I love this song!)

9. (1984) Once I thought my innocence was gone
Now I know that happiness goes on
That's where you found me
When you put your arms around me
The Longest Time - Billy Joel

10. (1987) Now I'm walking again to the beat of a drum
And I'm counting the steps to the door of your heart
Only the shadows ahead barely clearing the roof
Get to know the feeling of liberation and relief
Don't Dream It's Over - Crowded House

11. (1990) She likes it neat
And he makes a mess
I take it easy
Baby I get obsessed
Opposites Attract - Paula Abdul (I'd have sworn that last line was "Baby I get upset", so much so that I checked out multiple lyrics sites before deciding I was obviously wrong)

12. (1993) Passion or coincidence once prompted me to say-
Pride will tear us both apart.
Well now pride's gone out the window, cross the rooftops, runaway.
Left me in the vacuum of my heart
Ordinary World - Duran Duran (Someone needs to get Clem a few of Duran Duran's albums from the 80's. Their stuff in the 90's was mediocre, but they flat out kicked ass in the 1980's. I highly recommend "Rio" and "Seven and the Ragged Tiger"....)

13. (1996) Oh, I really should have known
By the time you drove me home
By the vagueness in your eyes, your casual good-byes
Insensitive - Jan Arden

14. (1999) We'll fight, not out of spite
for someone must stand up for what's right
cause where there's a man who has no voice
there ours shall go singing
Hands - Jewel

15. (2002) You waited this long to stop debating
Cuz I'm back, I'm on the rag and ovulating
I know you got a job Ms. Cheney
But your husband's heart problem is complicating
Without Me - Eminem (This song was played incessantly in the late Spring of 2002 after the release of The Eminem Show.... but it's just too hilarious and I love the fast paced rhymin'. I even parodied this song as Wierd Al way back in June 2002 after it came out, dedicating it to Booch....)

16. (2005) Is ya man on the floor?
If he ain't...
Let me know
Run It - Chris Brown (I have this snippet seared in my brain.... )

17. (2008) I don't know what this is
But you've got me twitchin'
Like you knew you would
I don't know what you do
But you do it well
I'm under your spell
Mercy - Duffy (This was played during BP of just about every Cardinals game I was at this year. Why do we seem to be the only park in Major League Baseball that plays nothing but new music during BP? It's been like that since the late 90's. I gotta go to KC or Cincy or Milwaukee just to hear some decent BP music.... well, OK, not necessarily this song. I do like it, which is why I included it....)

JJC Points:

Melo got a JJC humor point...

Mini got a JJC point for her vague answer on #13, a snippet I picked specifically because it had the word vague in it.... :P

Sammy & the Sleazebuckets was good enough for 2 JJC point for TBone...

Clem got 3 JJC points, until he insulted Duran Duran, so he'll have to live with just 2....

Kay got a JJC point for her great act of disbelief at the lyrics to #15 and 16 (Like she doesn't listen to songs like that all the time), and for her answer to #17....

Panic gets a JJC point for the "title" to #15. I don't know if that was a blind guess of Eminem or if you knew it, but I thought it was funny....

Since I didn't give out many JJC points in this game, Estonut gets a JJC point so he can feel the "lurve".....

I guess you didn't get my reference in #1.

Jimmie Dale Gilmore + Mac Davis + The Longest Time = courtroom video and NO JJCP?

Man, you're getting really stingy with the love....

I remember the Nam/Bowling reference from last year's LS (Or maybe it was something else, but I didn't miss it, just didn't get the point of it there, probably because I don't know where you pulled it from since I'm so dense!)....

Mac Davis is hardly JJ Cale or Hoyt Axton. I've actually heard of him....

I already gave you a JJC for confusing Longest Time and Keeping the Faith in the previous game.

You were the one who told me I was being to generous with the JJCP's off the bat.... :P :P :P

You've never seen The Big Lebowski aka The Greatest Movie of All Time??? Dude! I don't think I used the 'Nam/bowling quote in an LS, but it was a signature on one of my IDs for a while. Jimmy Dale Gilmore was Smokey! He's also a musician and seriously the only name I could think of for Sugar Shack (Jimmy Gilmer, duh!).

You'd never heard of Hoyt Axton??? I'm following my rule for writers. I only put them down if I think of it as "their" song. To me, In the Ghetto is a Mac Davis song. (Although, like Tbone, I can't think of it without hearing Cartman singing it in my head.)

PS I'm obviously not arguing for JJCP, I'm just talking to hear my head rattle. Ha!

You quoted me too fast! I had to fix my post to explain the quote, since I didn't realize that lb wasn't familiar with it.

I invoke the Anti-Elvis Rule: If anybody else could have possible done it, then it's not an Elvis song, dammit!

I know you put down who you associate with each song, and I have come to accept that. I do have to admit I wasn't aware Mac Davis did "In the Ghetto", but I didn't deem it JJCP worthy newfound knowledge. And I thought I said at the time I'd never heard of Hoyt Axton. Seriously, no clue he even existed... ala Mr. Cale.

And now that I have looked up JDG, I see he was in The Big Lebowski, which i assume is where the quote comes from (No, I haven't seen the movie, but I knew it was about bowling, and it would've been my first guess if that quote were on a quiz)....

Nope. Elvis Rules. Every artist performing today has Elvis in him. Except Miley Cyrus. Been proved. :P

There is always another Fanny waiting out there to take over for the old tired one. It's like Baby New Year and Father Time.....
