You people are all nuts!
Agreeing with someone in another thread, I came here to talk about gameshows.
You people on the right, left, top or bottom are all bonkers with ridiculously slanted viewpoints. I have no interest in such nonsense.
Please page me when when the discussion returns to game shows.
Over and out.

Come back around Nov. 10.

Since civility and propriety are not distributed equally, and each of us might disagree about what constitutes those qualities, I have a proposal. What if, as happened some years ago, those who wished to talk about politics moved those discussions to separate boards for the duration of the election season. For example, Bob###'s existing board might serve as a logical "home" for Obama supporters. Although I am not aware of a similar existing board for McCain supporters, I am confident that one could be found or created in relatively short order. If necessary, a third board might serve as a home for the commentary of citizens of other nations who wish to expound to each other on the superiority their own political systems over that of the annoying Americans.
That way, insults, innuendo, character assassination. revulsion, and wishful thinking could continue unabated and unchallenged, to the great amusement of participants without the rest of us having to be aware of it. I think we'd all be happier and our collective blood pressure would drop to healthier levels.
The spectrum of political posts has included some thoughtful and cogent observervations, which I would be sorry to miss. Such posts, however, have been greatly outnumbered and buried in vitriol.

For someone who came here to talk about game shows, Slam doesn't mind the odd conversation about bridge from time to time. I sneaked a peek at the first page of his posts, and he's also OK with posting about beach volleyball and movie revenues.
I don't hesitate to talk about shoes, Clue, noteworthy deaths, whose birthday it is, who's getting knocked around by the weather, home improvement, book publications, new children, older children, and on and on, with two footers, four footers, six footers, and no footers (hi, Carp!). And I've seconded a nomination of a four-footer for President. Why, we'll go to any lengths to talk politics!
Uly's right, the guy's about eight years too late if he wants to talk exclusively about game shows, including himself. I join Skoop in inviting him to return around Nov. 10, if then. We'll still be talking about shoes, Clue, noteworthy deaths, whose birthday it is, who's getting knocked around by the weather, home improvement, book publications, new children, older children, and on and on, with two footers, four footers, six footers, and no footers (hi, Carp!). But we probably won't be nominating any four-footers for President.

Re: You people are all nuts!
Slam, I think you are agreeing with my earlier post. I would like to be on good terms with and consider myself a friend with everyone who posts on this board. The zealots on both sides only make me wary of associating with ignorant partisan assholes. I have yet to encounter any candidate who didn't have both positives and negatives. I also doubt that any opinions or votes have ever been swayed by the vitriolic screeds spewed by the extremists on either side on this board. Such posts have only made me want to avoid personal encounters with the people who express them. I'd love it if this board could be primarily focused on game shows, with any other topics holding only a tangential relationship to the overriding theme. I really don't get all the squirrels, dogs, cats, shoes, and other subjects, but they seem pretty innocuous. However, the extreme political posts appear to serve no purpose other than to stir up hatred among people who would otherwise respect and enjoy each other's company. Who benefits from all the nastiness?slam wrote:Agreeing with someone in another thread, I came here to talk about gameshows.

As a humble political poster, I would just like to say that this bored is VERY civil compared to so many others. I think game show boreds--this in particular--represent a well-educated diverse group of people.
I try very hard to not attack other posters personally or to invoke any religious texts (other boreds have been destroyed by religious debates, far more than politics). Like eBay says, most people are basically good.
I understand other posters' feelings, though, and have decided to not post any political comments for awhile at least.
However, I was terribly upset when I was personally attacked over an innocent mustard spill on Monday (YES, PEA, I MEAN YOU!! YOU ARE SOOOO UNFAIR. YOU ARE JUST A ... A .... mustard meanie.)
If I get into any debates now, it will be over condiments only.

There are Boreds out there that stick close to a certain topic.
I am extremely glad this is not one of them.... and I certainly hope that doesn't change anytime soon (Especially since if this Bored ever did go back to being about nothing but game shows [not that it ever was, even back in the ABC days], I'd be the one walking out the door)...
That said, you are never going to shut up the politicos. Didn't happen 4 years ago, and it was 20 times worse then than it is now. If it bothers you, just skip over the obvious political threads...
Or come back in 2 months....

I love the variety here.
Variety includes, well.... variety.
Variety has extremes.
Post away, peoples.
Sorry, guy, no one is gonna page you. I take that back - I will not be paging you. This is not just a game show bored any more.
Thank goodness - if it were, I would be gone.
Ha!
There is a way for yous guys (you know who you are!) who would love to be rid of me.

Thankfully, boring people tend not to stick around here very long.
And if any of the people on here tried to intentionally be boring, it'd probably backfire and be absolutely hilarious....

there but the rantings and ravings of Barney and His

They'd bore each other to death.
