I'm not sure what you're comparing with those two choices, but if you're talking about cereal, 3/4 cup of Wheaties has 4 g. of sugars (out of 22 g. of total carbs.).

I agree with you - that is one of the reasons I took raisins off my snack list. I could eat too many raisins in one sitting.silvercamaro wrote:I'm a Raisin Bran girl. Its just that I don't think there are "good" and "bad" foods, but there is a lot of faddishness when it comes to food. And the history of breakfast cereals is full of a lot of quackery, starting with its the most important meal of the day.MarleysGh0st wrote:A 3/4 cup serving of Frosted Flakes has 11 g. of sugars (out of 27 g. of total carbohydrates).themanintheseersuckersuit wrote:How does the quantity of sugar in Frosted Flakes compare to a PowerBar? feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

My sister told me that most of the vitamins and minerals in cereal isn't actually in the flakes itself. Most of the vitamins and such are sprayed on after the cereal is made. So unless you drink the milk left in the bottom of the bow after you finish the cereal you're not getting much in the way of vitamins and minerals cuz all the vitamins and minerals gat washed off when you pour the milk over the cereal.
I like frosted flakes. They're yummy.

That's good to know. I don't like milk, so I barely put any on my cereal when I eat it.Tocqueville3 wrote:My sister told me that most of the vitamins and minerals in cereal isn't actually in the flakes itself. That's funny that you write that. I have a grape addiction, especially cold from the fridge. Yes, it's healthier than eating a bag of potato chips, but it's too many calories/too much sugar, so I rarely eat them. I had them as a treat yesterday and ate the entire 1/2 pound in one sitting. It was always a big hit when I brought baggies of frozen grapes to Emma's soccer games. (Take them off the stem.)

I, on the other hand, am a master of ice cube chewing.sunflower wrote:I will have to try freezing them...grapes are one of the few fruits that I enjoy cold. It got me smacked more times than I care to remember while growing up.

Yeah, a slab of fried chicken on a processed grain buttered biscuit. Now THAT is a breakfast of champions.peacock2121 wrote:The olympians were/are also promoting McDonalds for healthy eating. Something about chicken for breakfast.
Not that I don't think you can make sound food choices at McDonalds, I do think you can.
Why should a Wheaties get the "athlete's charter"? Seriously, who eats Wheaties without a spoonful or two of sugar? Without the sugar I'd rather eat a bowl of cardboard. So Frosted Flakes has sugar. 99.9% of the bowls of Wheaties consumed probably have more.

The Wheaties and Corn Flakes info is for a 1 Cup serving.
Frosted Flakes is for 3/4 of a Cup.
Why would anyone eat a smaller serving of Frosted Flakes than the other two?
So the real comparison, 1 Cup to 1 Cup to 1 Cup:
Corn Flakes - 100 calories, 2g sugar
Wheaties - 110 calories, 4g sugar
Frosted Flakes - 148 calories, 15.6g sugar

Maybe "most" but I like Wheaties the way they are. Those and Rice Chex are my favorites. I haven't added sugar to any cereal in 30 years. I don't even have any sugar in my house. I'm also free of salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, and pretty much any other kind of condiment you can name. I don't even have any sugar substitute. Nothing.BackInTex wrote:Again, as eaten, most Corn Flakes get a tsp of sugar added (as do Wheaties).andrewjackson wrote:They are different. I do have some salsa on occasion. When I became single again and started on my diet I got rid of almost all the extraneous food substances in my house. I don't add anything to anything any more.
I like things plain.
