We close on our home tomorrow.....

#1 Post by 5LD » Tue Nov 06, 2007 3:02 pm

Both excited and nervous.

Housing and credit markets are the worrisome part.
The house is fabulous and over 3x the size of our NYC apartment.
Anyone care to donate furniture to help us fill this house?!?
We officially move in on Monday.

Until you get lots more furniture, the house will look spacious.

Then, one morning you will wake up and realize that you don't have enough space for your stuff.

You're not taking out one of those interest-only subprime mortgages, are you? If you can afford your mortgage, then those other questionable loans aren't your problem.

Except to the extent that the fallout is all our problem, but that's another discussion...

Very exciting, Ducks!! Take your time and enjoy the empty spaces while you have them - Judy is right, it'll fill up all on it's own, somehow.

Yep, all those big empty closets will magically fill up seemingly overnight.

Good luck and enjoy! It sounds perfect for your family.

Congratulations Ducky!

Now is the time to daydream about just how you want those rooms to look eventually.

The backyard will be so terrific for the little ducks!

Congrats on the house. Getting into and around it is always so daunting, but it's a wonderful adventure.

Happy decorating!
Well, then

Both appropriate emotions.

A friend and her husband just closed on their first house. I called that afternoon to ask to speak to the homeowner. She was giddy. At the same time she said "There is no landlord to call. I am the landlord."

It is a great move. You will make it home. You will make memories. You are making them now.

Both are quite understandable emotions. When elwing and I moved into our new house after the fire, we were excited about the opportunities we would have for decorating, etc., and nervous about the big commitment.

Many congratulations, Duck. Buying my first house was so exciting. We got to work painting those walls right away. I still wake up in the morning and think how much I love my pink bedroom. Have fun!

Did you buy in NY still? Where will you be?

Do you have an Ikea near you? They have great furniture at reasonable prices, you just have to put it together. (Bookshelves are the best bargain from Ikea!)
