Just a friendly reminder that my appearance on CATCH-21 will air THIS FRIDAY...August 29, 2008 at 7:30PM/6:30 P.M. Central on Game Show Network.

I watched. Jason played well, but the game has a lot of luck involved. I don't expect to watch this show on a regular basis. The amount of time used for actual trivia content is too low and the time spent dealing giant cards and blathering about what decisions to make in very obvious situations is too high to hold my interest.

I like the big Giant Cards, I would prefer that Vegas dealers start using them for us MAWG's who have diminishing eyesight! :shock:
Unlike the original version of Catch 21, I want to bring back the big hats for the female dealers! They were kindof hot! :D

Here's the thing...

We get GSN now, so I've been watching the show pretty regularly, as I was at a taping and met a bunch of the contestants. Anyway, Jason's show really wasn't typical, as there's usually a lot more questions and gameplay - unlike his game where his hands were such immediate slam-dunks. It's the first I've seen where a contestant wiped out their opponents so quickly! He did trounce his competition, but there have been other players that have been just as knowlegable (and/or as quick on the buzzer) but that had to work a lot longer to win, or NOT win for that matter, for as good as those people were, there is, indeed, way too much luck involved. He somehow had incredibly lucky hands. In addition, and unfortunately - for the contestants as well as the viewers - it's virtually required that the contestants babble, preferably arrogantly, about the cards they're dealt and why they're doing what they do with them, and I agree that part is way annoying.

Now, in the bonus round he probably shouldn't have blown through that first power chip so quickly (and I'm sure in retrospect he'd agree) as he could have put that 8 on the 9 and had a 17. Two cards later he got a 4, boom... 21, which would have given him at least another $1000. If he had played with his flexibility just a bit, knowing he had the advantageous cushion of three chips, which is rare, the potential last card could have been yet another winner. Sadly, I can't remember seeing anyone with three chips leave without making at least an extra grand. But yeah, his streak sure fizzled with all those facecards.


BTW, an old friend of mine, Kim, will be on Monday night's show... retroactive fingers-crossed!! :wink:
