Its 11:30 pm here in Oxford, and I have internet access! The trip across the pond was great, and we even slept a little. Getting from Heathrow to Oxford was a little more challenging, but, we took a direct line bus, and got here in an hour. We didn't know where to get off, so, we ended up trudging thru town with our luggage, and eventually making it to Magdalen College. Edward Longshanks' son was the founder of Magdalen College. We are in a dorm room that is very large but, with small twin beds. Great view of the court yard, and we can hear the bell tower's chime. I am loving the history already, and can't wait to begin wandering around.
We ate a a pub this evening on High Street, and it was excellent. People are very friendly, and ready to help upon request.
However, I had my first rude experience with a person here. We were talking, and he said to me, "Are you an American?" I said, "Yes, I figured you could tell." he said, "Yes, all the big people come from the US!" I looked at him, and of course he was referring to my weight. I said, "Well, you have a few big people here yourself. In fact I saw a few at Heathrow." He shook his head.
Not in even in the country 12 hours and ...geez...
