Obama and Lincoln

#1 Post by JBillyGirl » Thu Aug 28, 2008 7:34 pm

Two or three people tonight have raised the example of Abraham Lincoln and his limited pre-White House experience in comparison with Obama. Now, I'm not going to argue whether the comparison is valid or not -- I support Obama, but it seems like perhaps a bit of a reach -- but I just wanted to say I thought of the perfect rejoinder for John McCain (though I can't possibly be the first to think of this):
Spoiler
"I knew Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln was a friend of mine. And Senator, you're no Abraham Lincoln."

Now that Biden is his running mate I would prefer the spelling

O'Bama

The parallels are impressive. They both have an odd number of letters in their names. They were both born in town that starts with an H -- Hodgenville and Honolulu. And did you know that Obama's secretary is named Lincoln, and Lincoln's secretary was named Obama?

And they were both bastards.

I'm sure they are, but I don't know the link. Six other presidents are my cousins.

I forgot: Lincoln's law partner is my cousin and so is Stephen Douglas's wife.

Well, duh. We're all cousins. Adam and Eve ring a bell?

Well if you believe that, we have a more recent common ancestor: Noah.
