OK, so now that Obama and McCain have had a debate at Rick Warren's church, when will see an Obama/McCain debate at a Catholic church? Or a synagogue? Or a mosque? Or a nondenominational church (like mine) whose political beliefs aren't monopolized by the issues of marriage and abortion?

One of my friends belongs to Rick Warren's church. I have no respect for it!

That particular church sent out the message to her letting her know how horribly evil the Harry Potter books were, without reading them first.
They quoted from the Onion parody which said that the book was inciting kids to practice witchcraft.

The best Onion quotes from the letter:

"Harry is an absolute godsend to our cause," said High Priest Egan of the First Church Of Satan in Salem, MA. "An organization like ours thrives on new blood - no pun intended - and we've had more applicants than we can handle lately. And, of course, practically all of them are virgins, which is gravy."

And here is dear Ashley, a 9 year old, the typical average age reader of Harry Potter: "I used to believe in what they taught us at Sunday School," said Ashley, conjuring up an ancient spell to summon Cerebus, the three-headed hound of hell. "But the Harry Potter books showed me that magic is real, something I can learn and use right now, and that the Bible is nothing but boring lies."

How could anyone believe that the quotes were real? Did they believe the letter just because it was sent out by the church? If the latter situation is the case, then they have been seriously brainwashed by their church!

LOL! If you think that Rick Warren's church or ministry is "monopolized by the issues of marriage and abortion", then you really have not been paying attention.

Do you think that Obama will do any better if they held a similar discussion of the issues (not a debate) at a different church venue? (Well, maybe a mosque. )

[Note: I did not get to see all of it, but I did get to see some clips of his answers on the "big issues". He had some very good answewrs on some of the questions, albeit much too calculated. I was amazed at how poorly he answered the question about "life beginning at conception.")

Um...since the Pill and IUDs work to PREVENT conception- how do you figure this, exactly?

The IUD is meant to prevent sperm from reaching the egg, and thus prevent conception.

Are you sure it was Rick Warren's CHURCH that sent out the spam? Or some well-meaning church secretary who does what my mother does, and multiposts, crossposts, forwards, and otherwise plays into the hands of every spammer out there by constantly re-sending every bit of glurge they find alarming, without doing a bit of crosschecking?

Both national conventions plan to have a virgin read the entrails of a chicken before the virgin is sacrificed. I think I heard Mary Matalin say this on Faux News this a.m.
