I don't like the pop-up ads, so it was worth it to me to buy the Gold Membership.

Also, when I was having problems with the time-outs, they went through my records and saw that I gave the correct answer and realized that there was a problem. I don't know if they would have done that for the free-ride people.

I also believe that if you use something, you should help pay for the cost of running it.

I won a month of Gold membership on a lucky puzzle guess a while back, but I will be paying for it when this month runs out.

For me, the chance to play every WordPuzzle (cf), rather than only being able to play once a week, plus 10 tries instead of 2 at the WordRounds and Wordmatches, is well worth it.

Of course, the touchyfeely support the site to keep it going is a good reason, too.

YAY! Isn't it thrilling when the green bar comes up instead of the red one?

Be prepared to pay up 30 days from now, because (as mrkelley noted) only the first taste is free, and then they have you right where they want you. Ha!

I got a second WTHAI correct the day before my first gold month expired! I ended up ponying the jack because I couldn't bear to not play the next day's word puzzle.
