Back from Moist Town, USA

#1 Post by KillerTomato » Sun Aug 17, 2008 6:43 pm

Just got back from a long weekend at my cousin's wedding in Pensacola, FL. I grew up in a town where, when it's humid, it's ridiculously humid, but I think I have discovered the moistest town in the country in Pensacola. I would get up, take a shower, and "dry off" with a fresh, moist towel. I had breakfast this morning at an IHOP, where the paper napkin was practically a Wet-Nap. It's incredibly humid there. If you've seen Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-Long Blog" (and if you haven't, you should), Mr. Moist would be right at home there.

Hurried from the airport directly to my pub-trivia's Trivia-Bowl Championship game. Got there too late for the first half, and found my team in dead last without me at halftime. We ended up smack-dab in the middle of the pack at the end, just out of the prizes (there were 17 teams, and the top 6 got prizes...we were 9th). What's unfortunate is that after seeing the questions in the first half, we'd have actually won if I'd gotten into town earlier...I knew all the ones my teams missed in the first half. But to balance it off, I didn't listen to my team on a couple in the second half, and was WAY wrong on 2 of them....

Found out more bad news, that one of my teammates is having open heart surgery (single bypass) on Wednesday, so keep my buddy Bob in your thoughts this week, please. He calls himself our team's "Jethro Bodine" but we love the guy anyway.

Now, Sybil is coughing up a hairball and I'm catching up on last week's "Mad Men" before the next episode tonight.

Then sleep, sleep, sleep. I did catch up on my Sploofusing....got lucky with one, knew the other two, so I got that going for me. :-)

Why you were in God's country, not that far from me. Our weather is not that much different from Pensacola and we don't have an ocean breeze.

Glad you're home safely. You're a dedicated trivia player to go straight to the games from the airport. Now go get some rest.

It will be even wetter there if Fay gets any close.

Best wishes to your trivia teammate.
