Geez, didn't see the 'grumbling" when Phelps win was 1/100th of a second, now did we?

I personally think that win a win is as close as 1/100th of a second, both Olympians should get a gold. But then again I am a mom and would like to see everyone leave happy.

A win is a win and if there is any way to determine by our current technology who actually got there first, that competitor should be the winner.

In earlier swimming heats, if there is an exact tie for the last final position, the two swimmers have a "swim-off" to determine who gets in the final. If there is an exact tie for the medals, it is a tie (I think that there were two bronze medals awarded in a couple of the swimming events).

In cycling, anyone who finishes in a pack is credited with the same time, but the medals themselves (or the red jersey in multi-day events) are awarded to the individuals who cross the line 1-2-3.
