Looks like you are on the 7-10:30 schedule. Same as us, except ours is live.

The 4 x 100 freestyle relay was at about 10:30 PM.

All I can say is WOW -- what a race! I could not believe what happened in the last leg. That'll teach "some" to talk trash before a race!

I don't! They cover up the David lines. I'm not saying that's the main reason I watch swimming, but it's probably in the Top 2. Ha! At least I'll still have diving.

We were watching at my mom's house Saturday night and the boys were getting on our cases because my sister wouldn't move from the couch until we saw the 400 IM.

Then they got transfixed by the May/Walsh of it all and we laughed at them.

We did have a good time mocking the XX Minutes to Phelps!!!!!11 announcements they made every 3 minutes, though.

OK, I'll bite (since I briefly googled it and it wasn't in the top 3): What are David lines?

Normally I wouldn't answer for Fanny, but it looks like she's gone, so I'll take a guess.

Think about Michelangelo's David.

I was trying to remember the actual anatomical term. I know a couple of dirty terms that would probably clear it right up for you, but the only other printable name I know is an Adonis belt and that's even less descriptive. Ha!

If you're into yoga, it's the muscle that stretches when you do Pigeon Pose.

I'll bet that was really helpful. Ha! I think it's actually inginual muscles, or something like that.

It doesn't necessarily have to be Phelps, but I guess it would take a while to find a squirrel with David lines. Ha!

Just for scientific purposes and for the intellectual edification of a certain Wellman, this gives a more relaxed view of the specific area.

I am in awe of both Michael Phelps and Cullen Jones. Phelps is proving to be the greatest Olympian ever and Jones' flawless swims will no doubt inspire millions of young African-Americans to take up competitive swimming. I have a fear of water cuz I can't swim... but at age 28, I am now inspired to learn how to swim. I'm ready to make a commitment to overcome my fears and learn to swim alongside NellyLunatic2002 #1 and NellyLunatic2002 #2.

But I digress...

This was just an exciting race from start to finish.

The top 5 teams all broke the old world record.

The winning team broke the world record by 4 seconds.

Announcers were saying this was quite possibly the greatest relay race of all time. Hard to argue with it. What a comeback on the final leg!

I was so happy when they chose Jones for the finals (I hate the qualifying v. finals stuff in swim, track and FIBA stuff. You should dance with you brung ya), his mom commercial has me crying every time I see it and it don't hurt that he's like a younger, better looking (!) Taye Diggs.

I hope that piece they had on him teaching the kids how to swim and his childhood near-drowning experience inspires others and I'm glad he inspired you.

I also enjoyed the fact that Lezak/the guy who won the race for them (although it was the epitome of team effort) was the 'old man' and that the one guy on the team whose name I don't know referred to "the Frenchies" talking trash.

Not only is he cute, but he's very articulate -- unlike so many of the b-ball players, who sound as if English is a second language.

For many of them, English is a second language.

For all those who got up at 3 am to watch Lithuania/Argentina on Sunday, can I get some love for my man Linas?

I should start an actual basketball thread for that, but Nelly would be the only one to respond to it (although Marley might read it and give his standard "what the fudge are you talking about?" reply, ha!).

That win by Lithuania might have been an even bigger upset than the Latvian men's beach volleyball team beating the USA#1 team.

If you start a basketball thread, I'll mention Yao Ming carrying in the Chinese flag during the opening ceremonies, which is an opportunity to mention Lin Hao and the upside-down flag he was carrying.

At least there are some people elsewhere in the blogosphere who noticed! 8)
