Maddie was really disappointed by the last book.
Someone in our house pre-ordered the book on Amazon back in April. That same someone can be notoriously budget minded, so they also ordered some additional things so that the free shipping option when you spend over $25 would be available. Imagine everyone's surprise when on 2 August, no sign of the book. Then to make matters worse, an email arrived stating that the book had been shipped....on 2 August via US slow mail, due to arrive 11 August. Sigh.

On Saturday, my friend came over unexpectedly with her copy of the book to loan to us. We had loaned their family books 2 and 3. My friend had zipped through the book and since her daughter (coincidentally another Maddie :) ) hadn't finished 2 and 3, she let us borrow 4. Sam was THRILLED.

I was the thrilled one when 15 minutes after my friend left, the post lady arrived with OUR copy of the book. YAY! Now we are both reading it. I haven't rushed through it as I wanted to save it to read for a trip that involves a bunch of driving this weekend. I can say that from what I've read so far, it is definitely a completely different tone to this book.

PSM, I know that we recently added each other on MySpace. If you go to my home page and look for one of the Michelle's on my page, you'll see that her profile picture is of her reading a book. Earlier this year, Michelle and another friend of ours took a road trip to see just where all the Volterri action takes place. In the picture she is reading one of the books, and is standing in a tunnel there in Volterra. I was majorly bummed that I couldn't join them, but I'm glad they had fun. Now my friend Michelle is trying to convince me to go w/ her on a road trip to go check out Forks. LOL We'll see.....

PS - I was the cheapskate that pre-ordered through Amazon and got the cheap/free shipping. :lol:
