Seems like all I have is bad news

#1 Post by kayrharris » Sat Aug 09, 2008 5:47 pm

While I was out of town yesterday there was a accident that involved a friend of mine.

Their little girl's school class was having a "back to school" swim party at one of the local pools...not a public pool and it does have life guards. Eight five years and 6 mothers. Of course, they weren't the only ones there and it was crowded.

I don't have all the details, but my friend had picked up another little girl as her mother was working. This little girl ended up underwater, unresponsive.
They Life Flighted her to Birmingham, but she has no brain activity so it doesn't look good. This is the couple's only child. My friend who picked her up to bring her to the party is extremely distraught.

These two families desperately need our thoughts and prayers.

Oh no.

Thoughts and prayers heading south.

Okay, that is enough from you Kay. Only good news from now on alright?

:(

Hugs to you too sweetie.

Too rough a week to go through for sure.

Oh, Kay! I'm so sorry to hear about this little girl. "Things" happen so quickly with little ones.

I know the mother who picked the child up feels terrible. She was being a good friend and helping the girl enjoy a fun time with her schoolmates.

We will hold both families in our prayers.

This is so sad.

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

All of our prayers are with you and your friends families - given the circumstances of the situation I hope you can find the inner strength to help you and all involved through this time of need. If you need to renew that strength - I'm sure there are many here who will do all we can to aid your through these tribulations you are facing.

In our thoughts and prayers.

Oh my...this is terrible. I'm not sure there are words to express the guilt both families must be feeling. Warm thoughts here to them all..

I'm terribly sorry to hear this.

I read somewhere that more little kids drown than die in any other way, when not in a war zone anyway. I think people should know this stuff when taking their kids to swim.
