I had a longshot idea about how to restory Lyn's post, but so far, I've struck out. In trying to quote part of her post, here's the only part I saved:
2) Since I knew I'd likely have an easier ride after $25K than before, my pre-planned strategy was to do whatever I had to do to get to that anchor, and know that anything after that was extra. That included burning off all my lifelines if that's what it took.
I thought maybe we'd get lucky and the bots from Google or the other search engines might have crawled this board yesterday and saved Lyn's post in cache, but it appears that did not happen.

Actually that snippet tells me what I wanted to know. But it also makes me curious to know why she thought she'd have an easier time with the upper tier questions. Maybe it's because the lowest tier is full of pop culture and other stuff that true trivia geeks don't bother with.

Your conjecture is exactly right. She said her kids teased her in advance about how she might encounter problems with low-level questions on pop culture.

Do you see an e-mail button in her profile? Is that another special Moderator power?

She may have registered during the time that an e-mail address was required, even if it doesn't show up on the list.

I'd bet she's too busy enjoying 500,000 dollars to come on to a Millionaire fourm. Once the shock at suddenly having a ton of money wears off she'll be back :)

She doesn't get her check until 30 days after her episode aired.

But she does get to start charging her credit card with everything under the sun and she get's to look at her fake check that Meredith gave her. :D

And also, wasn't that episode taped awhile back, she probably got it by now.

Shade, the check comes 30 days after the show airs. I promise -- she doesn't have the money in her hands yet.

Personally, I was on the bored the day after my show aired. Otherindigo tracked down my school email and invited me to join the madness, and I've been here ever since.

I'm sure Lyn will be back in her own time.

Oh, after the show airs. Well that's just slightly annoying. Because sometimes you'd have to wait months for the show to air and then an additional 30 days. But I wouldn't complain :)

I wish I could get on the show...Could John Carpenter, Nancy Christy, Dan Blonsky, Joe Trela, Kevin Smith, Lyn Payne, Ogi Ogas, Jeff Gross And other big winners I can't recall of the top off my head buy the rights to Who Wants to Be A Millionaire and put me on the show :D

I just remembered.....after a contestant reaches a certain level, they get $250K and then an annuity? Or am I misremembering?

No, you're not misremembering. Lyn will get a check for $250K, and get $25K for the next 10 years, IIRC.

Lyn sent me her original message (with additional commentary) by e-mail, and I've put it back. She'd have done so herself, but she's having trouble posting. I'll send tubadave a PM suggesting he e-mail her to work it out. --Bob

Sometimes things end better.

Bet this doesn't happen to you again.
