Did I mention I never passed algebra! (Yet...still in college) Thanks Marley. I did the old 40 divided by 8 is 5 thing.
Why would you divide 40 by 8...when the only two numbers you were given were 40 and 5??? I hope there's no math on the test!

You ever have one of those days when everything seems to go wrong mathematically?

Never! In the investment field we live on 1/8's! As in 0.125 or 12 1/2%!
On a good day, I can even do Prime Numbers in my head through all the 3 digit numbers. IMHO it's time that stopped using the PN test when they evaluate "savants". I am no Savant, I am Human!

Squirrels are the architects of forests, the planters of trees, nature's own acrobats and show a zest for life that can inspire us. Every day should be National Squirrel Appreciation Day!
--squirrelmama (10/3/07)
Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.

Have you thought about trying out for 5th Grader? Jeff Foxworthy would love mathematical reasoning like that!

Well, we'll see.
If the assumption is correct that he's playing for charity, will he gamble their money on the $1 million question, sight unseen, or will he walk with $500K, thereby invoking the requisite "I am not smarter" confession?
But celebrities are always a special case, when tallking about casting standards.

I'm sure you have an extra "hook" in you somewhere? For the record, these meanies on the bored said my name "wasn't famous enough". So how famous is famous? What are some of the other unheard of names that were there at M* that you never heard of ? Christopher Plummer? Dick Van Dyke? Blake Edwards? Captain Von Trapp? LOL! Just teasing...you sound like a young Mary Poppins.
You be the Judge. Tell me I am not a "famous name"!

You are a famous name. But not that one. Was I you, I'd go for the Doctor Death angle. Although I don't know if that is name recognition enough outside of the hoi polloi.
The fame of the person has to be of inverse proportions to the commonness of the name.
Example:
Michael Jackson = famous enough to overcome common name.
Jack Jones = not famous enough to overcome common name.
Elvis Peacock = name uncommon enough to overcome lower fame level.
I'm darned good and ready.

Forgot to mention the 5 that passed were MAWGs. Is that a-typical? Or is it typical to pass but then be screened out?

You trying to goad me into another rant?
Yes, MAWGs are big trivia fans and tend to pass the test in high numbers. Then we're discriminated against so that the show can be filled with the "appropriate" number of actors and young people.

As someone defending "young people", I have to say that I'm 99% sure that I only got 2 wrong on my test...and I finished my test in about 3 minutes flat. So it's not like I didn't deserve to be there. You do too and I'm sorry they haven't picked you, but I deserved to be picked and I didn't get on just because I'm young or whatever.
I usually let this stuff slide by but I felt the need to say something today because contrary to popular belief, someone can be young AND smart. I graduated in the top of my class, I got very high SAT scores and I'm in MENSA and I won't apologize for being young or deemed "tv worthy" by producers.

I'm young, female and I have the perfect "famous name". I feel I was discriminated against by being given a hard test!

So, not that I'm obsessed with this or anything. I mean it's not like I
thought I had actually studied all 8 pages of the transcript posts but just realized I forgot to finish page 8 and just found the Obama book question right there - on page 8 that I
didn't actually finish. And, chances are, had I finished said page 8 that I probably would have passed the *$&%ing test
Anyway, if I
were obsessed with taking the test again, how late in the season do you suppose is too late to go? It says you can audition for famous names during a taping as well but I have no clue when famous names week is. I'm thinking I can make a birthday trip out of it for hubby and I at the end of September. Too late?

I don't know if they'll publish when famous names weeks is going to tape. It might be one of those things that when they finally get enough people, they'll just do it. They tape a week in a day so it's pretty flexible that way. Maybe someone else here has more insight into when that week might be taping?
But even if you miss famous names I say go for it for a regular episode!! I personally think it might be slightly easier to get on later in the season when some of the excitement settles. I have no scientific proof of that though. I auditioned 9/12, got the call 9/14 and taped in October. If it's like last season, taping is through the beginning of November so Septemer isn't too late for regular shows, but it might be for famous names week.

I'm pretty sure Bixby has one, but she's sorta on a leave of absence right now. We'll round one up if we have to. We're very resourceful around here.
