Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Spoiler
1. George I, of the House of Oldenburg, was the monarch of what country, from 1863 to 1913?
Probably a Scandinavian country: Denmark?

2. William McKinley was elected to his first term as President of the United States in what year?
Either 1896 or 1900 (I can't remember if he was assinated before or after he was re-elected ;-) - actually I can't remember if he was re-elected or died in his first term) If he served only 1 term, then it has to be 1900, but I can't remember the year he was assinated if it was prior to 1905 (then its 1896 otherwise its 1900 - but I'm going with:
1900

3. Galaktoboureko would typically be served during what course at dinner? Ugh - maybe dessert?

4. In mythology, what deity was born from the head of Zeus, after he swallowed her pregnant mother? Athiena?

Anyone with a passing familiarity of Schleswig-Holstein and Flashman is likely to know the answer is Greece. OK, maybe not likely but it is possible!

2. William McKinley was elected to his first term as President of the United States in what year?
Hmm, not sure if this is a trick question or not. He was elected in 1896 so I will make that my answer. He didn't take office until 1897.

3. Galaktoboureko would typically be served during what course at dinner?
Sounds like a dairy product is involved so I will make a SWAG with dessert.

4. In mythology, what deity was born from the head of Zeus, after he swallowed her pregnant mother?
Often get confused with who's who in mythology, not to mention that whole Greek/Roman thing, but I think this would be Athena.

As to a "theme" no idea other than a lot of greek influence so far. But where McKinley might fit in with that I do not know.

As to geographical content they are rather lacking so far...

Here_613 put in her answer that she thought good ol' Fanny had been 86ed. I kept just going in an endless sign in loop, but Here_613 worked. I guess I should have been more explicit in my comment, Marley obviously didn't read the chat rant thread awhile back that the chat room persists in renaming me Here_random numbers. Ha!

I'm at my Mom's house tonight and had no problem signing in, so I guess I'll try my laptop tomorrow and see if it's just the desktop freaking out (she has the same ISP that I do).
