Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only person on GGE that has never been to anything Disney (Land, World, Euro or otherwise) and likely never will.
I do, however, wager that I'm the only one here who's ever been to the North Pole.
(Except BobJuch, of course, because he used to live in the giant candy cane.)

Ha, I should have known! Since you are the only other person on GGE besides me that has no desire to go to Hawaii.littlebeast13 wrote:Here's Fanny! wrote:Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only person on GGE that has never been to anything Disney (Land, World, Euro or otherwise) and likely never will.

I never went until I was 29, and was unimpressed because I preferred thrill rides and Space Mountain was too tame. Then I had kids. It's great for people with limited language skills since there are many foreign visitors, and it was the first place Rain Man ever vocalized what he wanted (Small World again). Plus, we don't have to split up to experience most of the attractions there like we do in most theme parks since many are for multi-age groups. We only split up for the rides with height limits. Here's Fanny! wrote:Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only person on GGE that has never been to anything Disney (Land, World, Euro or otherwise) and likely never will.

Disneyland is more visually charming, but the staff at WDW is much much nicer. I guess because there are more tourists than locals at WDW, so they kind of have to be.

I was actually kind of bummed we didn't get to see volcanoes while in Hawaii. Just too many islands to see them all with a large crew. But I am all about pineapples and Kona coffee, and no passports or currency exchanges. Otherwise, I'd take a spot on Seven Mile Beach in the Caymans! Here's Fanny! wrote:Ha, I should have known! I've got dibs on Sergeant at Arms!
I used to go to Six Flags with the family all the time, but this October will mark 10 years since the last time I was there. And I thought Six Flags was overly-corporate back then.... they've just gotten even worse.....
I guess I'll never get the chance to fulfill my dream of kicking one of those cartoon character idiots that roam theme parks in the nuts......

I understand why it would appeal to people, although the maniacal devotion it inspires, especially among adults, puzzles me. Then again, since I've never been, I probably am unaware of a whole bunch of stuff that is offered besides kiddie things. I usually associate the D-places with teacup rides and creepy characters who don't ever talk.minimetoo26 wrote:I never went until I was 29, and was unimpressed because I preferred thrill rides and Space Mountain was too tame. But, different strokes and all that. From what I understand, some people don't like to play blackjack for 14 hours straight or attend basketball games. I know! Who'da thunk?

I used to go to Elitch's occasionally when I was a kid. But it was basically just something to be tolerated until everybody was finished and we'd get to go to Casa Bonita and get a table next to the cliff divers.littlebeast13 wrote:I used to go to Six Flags with the family all the time, but this October will mark 10 years since the last time I was there. If I could go play Let it Ride and video poker for part of that 14 hours (I love poker) and the basketball was NCAA, we'd have a deal! I'm itchin' to get to Vegas, but we have company now, I'm going to WDW in a week, and then my sister is coming from Michigan, so I'm running out of summer real fast...Here's Fanny! wrote: But, different strokes and all that. Who knows what they'd do when I locked them in the basement while I slept.....
Or I could probably pawn them off on one of my sisters, who would be just as bad of an influence as I would......

You'd show them Squirrel Porn. And Rain Man is quite the animator, so you'd get an apprentice for your art projects...littlebeast13 wrote:MarleysGh0st wrote:Oh, go ahead, Uncle Beast! Spoil her kids and give them a bunch of bad, new habits to take home!littlebeast13 wrote:

Re: My Disney List - From #52 to #1!
I couldn't do a ranking without the live action shows and parades. They are mostly my favorite things at Disney. Besides, I can't do some of the rides like R & R Coaster, Soarin', etc.
1-Fantasmic! (Hollywood Studios). It really frosts my butt that they are cutting this down to two performances per week (possibly more in busy times, but we never go during busy times). If it rains heavily, the one day we plan to see it could be washed out and we might be on our way home before the next day it's scheduled. That would be like craving a banana split and getting one served without the banana. The rest of the ingredients are great, but the overall experience is lacking something.
2-Illiuminations (EPCOT). Make it the Christmas holiday version, and it's tied for first.
3-Spectromagic Parade (Magic Kingdom). Sends shivers down my spine.
4-Mickey's Philharmagic (Magic Kingdom). Just flat out funny and entertaining and the 3-D is AWESOME!
5-Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (Magic Kingdom). I can't do this ride anymore (can't transfer to it), but it is the ONE attraction I would probably pick to do if I could just have one pick of all the things I can't access (although I might go with Soarin' simply because everyone loves it so much and I have never experienced it). BTMRR was hands down my favorite RIDE ride back when I could ride. Never liked the "cough your lungs up" rides, and this one gave me just the right amount of exhilaration. I miss it.
6-Wishes (Magic Kingdom)-This may be blasphemy to some Disneyholics, as fireworks behind the castle is THE iconic Disney image to most. I like this show fine, but myTop 5 is my Top 5.
7-Haunted Mansion (Magic Kingdom). Can't do this one anymore either, but I remember it well. Can't understand why they can't make this one accessible, as the ride vehicles are similar to the ones at the accessible Pooh and Nemo attractions.
8-Pirates OTC (Magic Kingdom)-see #6 re accessibility. I can understand on this one why they can't make it accessible. The big drop at the beginning kills that possibility.
9-Festival of the Lion King (Animal Kingdom). Aerial Ballet, Fire juggling, Tumble Monkeys, and Timon. What's not to like?
10-Finding Nemo:The Musical (Animal Kingdom). I oved this. Much more than I thought I would. The songs are excellent and the puppets/performers are tremendous.
11-Turtle Talk With Crush (EPCOT). very amusing. Never the same show twice.
12-Muppet Vision 3-D (Hollywood Studios). Never gets old for me.
13-Voyage of the Little Mermaid (Hollywood Studios). Like the "underwater" effects. Cute presentation.
14-The Great Movie Ride (Hollywood Studios). Would've been ranked a lot higher 10 years ago, but it's starting to age with me. Will always be a "must do", though, as it has a sentimental place with us as the very first attraction we ever saw at a Disney Park.
15-It's Tough to Be a Bug (Animal Kingdom). Awesome 3-D effects and quite amusing (if a bit scary for young ones).
16-Beauty & the Beast Live on stage (Hollywood Studios). Like a mini-Broadway production.
17-Kilimanjaro Safaris (Animal Kingdom). The experience depends on the number of animals out and about when you ride it.
18-Disney Dreams Come True parade (Magic Kingdom). Not usually much for parades, but this one is pure Disney magic.
19-Jungle Cruise (Magic Kingdom). If you get the right "tour guide" (i.e., one who's not just going through the motions and sticking to the standard script), this can be a pun-filled laugh fest.
20-Hoop-de-doo Musical Revue (Fort Wilderness resort). The only non-theme park item on the list. A Wild West saloon dinner show full of cornball humor. Lots of fun. Even more so after a couple of beers.
21-Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor (Magic Kingdom). The better the audience interaction, the better the experience.
22-Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular (Magic Kingdom). This would've been higher on the list 10 years ago, but it hasn't changed in 20 years. Needs tweaking.
23-The Seas with Nemo & Friends (EPCOT). nice new ride through attraction. The last scene is amazing.
24-Star Tours (Magic Kingdom). Another one I can't ride a nymore. Sigh.
25-Honey I Shrunk The Audience (EPCOT). For old times' sake, I put this on the list. Used to love it, but it's gotten old. Probably needs to be replaced.
There are other attractions I enjoy, but that's my Top 25. It doesn't include "sideshow attractions" at EPCOT like the "garbage can percussionists "The Jammitors", the Canadian band Off Kilter (rock & roll with bagpipes!), and "The World Showcase Players" in the United Kingdom area (their rendition of the King Arthur story is hysterical), all of which are must-sees for us. It also doesn't include the special holiday favorites like The Osborne Spectacle of Lights at Hollywood Studios or the inspirational and emotional Candlelight Processional at EPCOT.
And don't get me started on my favorite restaurants....

I could always send you kona coffee and macadamia nuts.
All I need is an address. Don't worry, if I had the address there is almost no chance I will show up personally to deliver them late one night when it is totally inappropriate...

Oh all right, if you insist! 1AM phone calls were a problem so I will just aim for a 3AM delivery. That sound OK?
