Wedding Blog: BD**2 - 17

Breathing edition (thanks, Pea!)

Ketubah got ordered last night, after a call during my drive to pick up HS about the spelling of my Hebrew name. To clarify, BD and I had looked at these about two months back, and she cringed at the prices. They're very nice, but not cheap. I thought BD had decided not to get one, and so didn't press the issue or remind her about it. I thought wrong. It cost her the fee for expedited service. I hope it's the most significant thing we've forgotten.

Final deposit check arrived at the photographer. With all this money flowing around, I wanted, and received, confirmation of its arrival.

Sadness abounds among the two-legged family members today, but we'll make it.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Why is a ketubah so expensive?

Must they be drafted by ketubah lawyers whose hourly rates are even higher that the usual lawyer's? Must they be written on expensive materials, such as gold leaf on vellum?

No, but there's usually some calligraphy involved. This is the place we ordered from:
