My cell almost never rings. When it does, it's important...
Unless it's an auto-caller giving me an "important message" about expiring warranty coverage.

I've had a phone for less than a month. Three people have the number. But I think the former owner of the number owed someone money, because my phone would ring at 6:30 am every day while I was in Hawaii, until I finally was able to tell them I wasn't Curtis and knock it off already...

You can put your cell number on the "Do Not Call" list now.

Daughter1111 had her first cell phone for about 2 weeks when all of a sudden she was getting 'odd' phone calls. We told her not to answer any unknown incoming calls and we would screen them. Strange messages that weren't really explicit just creepy. So I did a reverse look-up of her number and the number with the alternate area code for near our area.
The alternate area code was for an 'escort service'. Needless to say the cell phone company IMMEDIATELY changed her number.
Yikes!

Well, I hadn't done that for my cell number, so I went ahead and did so now.
The thing is, it's already illegal for telemarketers to be calling my cell this way, according to the
FTC.
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phone numbers. Automated dialers are standard in the industry, so most telemarketers are barred from calling consumers on their cell phones without their consent.

I have taken to calling people back who call me at hours that I don't like.
I call them at 5:30AM, after my first cup of coffee.
I act like it's not rude.

It may be illegal, but that doesn't stop them.

Or knocking off pedestrians (or should I say bodily orifices) who get in your way....

I guess we now know what that guy who escaped from prison has been up to.
