Opinionated Sheet Snobs
Because I know there has to be at least a few who meet both criteria. Ha!
I recently purchased some 600 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets. And I can't really see any appreciable difference between those and my 380 TC regular old cotton sheets. I think I might actually prefer those, but that might be because they've been washed 5893058033 times.
Am I just a Philistine or is there a point where, unless you're sleeping on angels' wings woven together with clouds, the difference is so small as not to matter? I'm sure there is, but I thought it would be higher on the schmancy scale than I currently reside.
I guess I have a little snob somewhere because I can certainly tell the difference compared to the 120 TC percale I've had my whole life up til a few years back. I even took my own set of sheets over to my Mom's for the bed I use when I stay over. Yes, believe it or not, in my family I'm considered the frou frou, uppity one. Ha!

As Bing Crosby used to sing:
When I'm worried and I can't sleep
I count my threads instead of sheep
And I fall asleep counting my threads
When my bankroll is getting small
I think of when I had none at all
And I fall asleep counting my threads
I think about a nursery and I picture curly heads
And one by one I count them as they slumber in their beds
If you're worried and you can't sleep
Just count your threads instead of sheep
And you'll fall asleep counting your threads
I think about a nursery and I picture curly heads
And one by one I count them as they slumber in their beds
If you're worried and you can't sleep
Just count your threads instead of sheep
And you'll fall asleep counting your threads

I like a high thread count - say 400 -500 - but I don't care for Egyptian cotton. I like my percale sheets or I can live with sateen. Just my opinion. Hope you had plenty of BB&B coupons! I have never in my life seen a BB& B coupon. I signed up for emails, so maybe I'll get one sooner or later.

Sometimes when they say that the sheets are 600 thread count, it's not really single-ply 600 thread count, the sheets are double-ply 300 thread count sheets.
I change our sheets every Sunday. No matter the thread count, I think that our sheets feel nicest on Sunday night when they still smell like Downey.

I'd have to put on my two buck chucks from Walmart and then I've probably lose count about 527. But it would keep me away from the computer so Kay wouldn't have to worry about me not sleeping.TheConfessor wrote:As Bing Crosby used to sing:

I think these are sateen.kayrharris wrote:I like a high thread count - say 400 -500 - but I don't care for Egyptian cotton. I like my percale sheets or I can live with sateen. Just my opinion. I can't believe you don't get BB&B coupons! I get two or three of them a week. I actually have a plastic tub full of them. I don't think I've ever bought anything from them online, so I don't even know how they got my address the first time.

Should I ask what they smell like on Sunday morning?PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote:Sometimes when they say that the sheets are 600 thread count, it's not really single-ply 600 thread count, the sheets are double-ply 300 thread count sheets.

Now that's a possibility. I'll have to investigate my documentation. Or wait a few washes and see if they become magically scrumptious.PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote:Sometimes when they say that the sheets are 600 thread count, it's not really single-ply 600 thread count, the sheets are double-ply 300 thread count sheets.

I'm never at my house on Saturday night, so I do the laundry on Saturday afternoon. Then by the time I go to bed Sunday night, it's a cool, clean surprising treat.

I don't qualify, but I like to see how the other half lives.
It may be that you will like your finely spun Egyptian cotton sheets much better after you have laundered them, thus washing away the sizing that was added for the purpose of making them look nifty in the packaging.
Or, you may wish to check under your mattress for a stray pea, Princess.
I know there is an enormous difference between cheap sheets at the 120TC range and better sheets of, say, 350 TC and above, but perhaps the difference becomes less perceptible as the thread count continues upward. Alas, I have been unable to test this at the full range of sheet variables, but I am willing to offer myself as a guinea pig for science.
Where is Consumer Reports when we need 'em?

The sad thing here is I remember that song!
Well, it's the mother in me that worries about you not sleeping, although I'm almost in the same boat but manage to catch up once a week.
Last night was my catch up night. I'll be up late again tonight in case you want to chat after 10 central, Miss here_whatever number that was.

I suppose one washing wasn't enough to handle that chore, since I followed instructions and washed in cold and tumbled on low.
No peas under the mattress. There are probably some pretty niced sized puffs of cat hair from the Little Princesses, though.

I only slept two hours last night and I've been busy all day with work, so maybe I might have my catchup night tonight. If not, maybe I'll use Here_613 and see if they change it to Here_289 or something. Ha!

Made me laugh.
I thought sheet was a nice way of typing shit.
Took me a bit to get you really mean sheet snobs.
I am a cotton snob. Don't care about thread counts. Don't like sateen, they feel too slippery or something.
I do like flannel in the winter and the jersey ones have a nice feel, only not in the summer.
