Well, Hello, Dolly

#1 Post by andrewjackson » Mon Jul 21, 2008 11:27 am

Tropical Storm Dolly swept across the Yucatan over the weekend and it looks to be headed for the Texas-Mexico border.

Current projections have it hitting hurricane force around Tuesday and the coast somewhere between Brownsville/Matamoros and Corpus Christi on Wednesday.

It's been a quiet couple of years in the western Gulf but we'll be watching.

Hurricane Dolly came ashore this afternoon just north of Brownsville, TX as a category 2 storm. That would be about 100 mile per hour winds. They are expecting 6-15 inches of rain in the area over the next day or so. Hopefully everyone down there is OK.

We are getting rain here in Houston but not too bad.

Most of the computer models have the eye of the storm heading into northwest Mexico but one has it turning north into New Mexico and then back into the Texas panhandle. Shouldn't be much moisture left in it by then.

We desperately need rain up in these parts. I've seen maybe five drops.
Well, then
