Will anyone here be in the audience for a taping soon?
I, for one, will be very curious about the changes in the works, and particularly any new lifelines (since they haven't seen fit to update the Official Rules). And if there's a taping in the next day or two that someone plans to attend, perhaps we can start analyzing in time to do froggie some good how any new lifelines may affect game play. --Bob

I heard from someone at the rehearsal today, and was able to determine the following:
- They had Play-It time limits for the contestants (15 seconds first five questions, 30 for $2K+). Hope this is rehearsal-only. Those times are short for $16K decisions.
- Ask the expert sponsored by Skype. Former contestant (a big winner) answers by Internet videophone.
- sounded like Double Dip was coming back as a replacement for the 50/50 (50/50 was not mentioned), and available before 25K.
- They told subjects for upcoming questions at one point (like upcoming questions will be about movies, astronomy, literature...)
Perhaps some of these changes are specific to the rehearsal, though we have confirmation of the Ask-Expert by Joe Trela and Lily calls.

It was used on Super Millionaire in 2004. The contestant could opt to use it on one question. There were still four choices, but you got two chances to guess the right one.Second Chance wrote:Would anyone care to explain how "Double Dip" works?jacorbett70 wrote: - sounded like Double Dip was coming back as a replacement for the 50/50 (50/50 was not mentioned), and available before 25K.
... isn't ringing any bells
I wonder if this is replacing the traditional 50-50 lifeline, and if so, why. They both do essentially the same thing, but I guess Double Dip would be somewhat more valuable than a random 50-50 (most of the time, but not in all cases).

The kicker with Double Dip in SuperBAM, and the difference from the 50/50, was that once you chose it, you HAD to answer the question. You couldn't pick one wrong answer then walk away. Valuable if you could truly eliminate in your mind two of the answers. A guarantee if you also had the 50/50 - use the 50/50 first, then the Double Dip.TheConfessor wrote:It was used on Super Millionaire in 2004. The contestant could opt to use it on one question. I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

In terms generating drama, the Double Dip forces you to answer the question, as previously stated. I think it will force more people to answer the question because you have two chances to get it right.
The other good reason for it is it will eliminate the "is the 50/50 really random?" talk that seems to come up regularly if the 50/50 option is removed. I am guessing the Skype a previous contestant is getting rid of switch the question perhaps?
