Last night was the debut of Disney's contribution to reality programming as thousands of aspiring actors showed up at WDW for the chance to be selected for a part in High School Musical 3. This was the "East Coast auditions", meaning that there will probably be a "West Coast" show at Disneyland (or possible DCA). The age range was from 16-21, it seemed, and most of those who showed up were girls. Six judges did one-on-one interviews with the would-be stars, who not only had to dazzle with their personalities but also sing something (most of them chose Disney songs). There was the obligatory post-interview shot of those who advanced and those who didn't.
As an added twist, some contestants were entered without their knowledge, having been recommended by teachers. Judges went to the hometowns of these nominees and some of them were selected for advancement as well.
