Semi-calm edition
GW sent FSIL a long e-mail telling him what we're doing or planning, asking for details and giving him every phone number and e-mail address we have for a response. I love her dearly, but I don't think she'll ever make a game show. Somehow her brain said that there's a four-hour time difference between CA and MA. I will not point this out to her. I will also not point out that we know he's still in the field for at least the next day or two, and has no access to his e-mail until his return to base.
Today, I will be calling the rabbi performing the ceremony and the chaplain of FSIL's unit, in an attempt to have the "men of the cloth" unite to put these two lovebirds together. The unit's website gives phone numbers for the various officials but no names, so I'll have to get that before calling the rabbi.
Even without details, all indications are that this is real. His mother told GW last night that he was considering going AWOL to get to the ceremony. My immediate response was, of course, "NO!" as was everyone else's. If this truly falls through, I will be frantically looking up the laws on webcam weddings. Is physical presence required in MA, or just witnesses at the other location to prove that there's not a shotgun or some other coercion just off camera?
BD is off after work to a bridesmaid's home for the night, then to NYC for the bachelorette shindig. The events will be a surprise to her, though the MoH told GW the basic plans for the weekend. I hope it will be fun, and that she can at least push the leave approval issue to the back of her mind for a couple of days.

Yes, but irrelevant. You're AWOL whether you're 180 miles away or 3000. This event has the possibility of being merely an incredibly expensive dress-up party with no central reason for existing.ulysses5019 wrote:Hmmmm, Las Vegas is only a couple of hours away from Ft. But you say FSIL is in the field, so you're making this determination by further discussion of the second and third-hand reports? I'll try to extend the semi-calm by suggesting that the colonel really can't be so unreasonable as to actually deny leave for a genuine wedding, so the chaplain ought to be able to cut through the red tape.gsabc wrote: Even without details, all indications are that this is real.

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.
