thguy65 on Crosswords, November 1, 2007

#1 Post by Bob78164 » Wed Oct 31, 2007 2:11 pm

Finally, the whole country gets to see a BB in action on Crosswords. Our very own thguy65 will air as the first show in two-a-day markets, which means that even the one-a-day markets will have their opportunity to see the Good Doctor in action.

Retroactive good luck! --Bob

Thank you so much for the heads up. Now I have to figure out when it is on and program the VCR.

I am one of the Spoilers, so don't expect to see me until after the first commercial break.
The two initial players are Maury and Steven.

I can't wait to see the show!

(Okay. Technically, I've seen the "show." I've just never seen a BB as a contestant on the show. Tomorrow will be like that shot in Wizard of Oz, where Dorothy opens the door and everything outside is Technicolor!)

Sparkle, Tim, sparkle!

I've never heard of a game show called "Crosswords" is this the same as "Merv Griffin's Crosswords"

Anyway, good luck. Win a Million (or whatever prize money they have :D )

It was on this morning at 4:30 in my fair city - it's on the DVR for me to watch this evening (assuming indeed that it is the one with Tim).

4:30 am? Gosh! I didn't know early risers were such big fans of game shows. Did your station run out of farm reports and infomercials? :)

I don't know why they chose to run it then, except that their daily schedule was already pretty full (it's on the FOX affiliate so they already have all sorts of "judge" shows and other things). Why they bothered to acquire it at all is a mystery to me.

Merv's Crosswords wasn't one of my favorite game shows before today, but after seeing Tim's episode....
Spoiler
... it still isn't. Good job, Tim. I think you played as well as anyone can on that show, but it's just too unpredictable. No great loss, unless it keeps you out of the running for some other show.

I loved seeing you in action, Tim.
Spoiler
I wish the outcome would have been different, but that's because I want all of us to win everything. :)

For some reason that was not the show we saw here today. The first show had a guy win named Sean. The second one had a guy named Tim, but no Maury or Steven.

I'm so confused.

I still think this is a very lame show. A person can answer one question the whole show but if it's at the end, can win it all. Also, what's with Ty Treadway? This guy is Guy Smiley at his worst.

I won't even get into the cheezy prizes. It's like a Canadian game show.

It's pretty much cash. If you solve the final puzzle you can also win an Xbox and a week-long trip to a resort. Also another 5K in cash.

The good news is that Tim's show did indeed air in our area.
Spoiler
The bad news: Tim didn't win. :o

Tim, you played well, but the unpredictability of the show makes it hard to know who will come out on top in the end.

Spoiler
Good effort, Tim, given the awful rules of the game that I already expressed my displeasure about. Pity the poor spoilers who had to take over that podium that was deeply in the red; seems like you'd want to take a dive immediately, in that position, to try to get back in the spoiler ranks.

Did they say you're "from Michigan"? TPTB is trying to disguise how many of their contestants live in SoCal? :P

I also noticed that they said Tim was "from Michigan" (as was Sean, one of the other spoilers). I wondered if the host had misread the card or if it was like J! when contestants are identified as "originally from..." to hide the fact that they live in SoCal.

I was given the choice of whether to say I was from LA or from my hometown area. I figured I would give Michigan a shout-out.
Spoiler
It's a nerve-wracking game when your position is so tenuous. Just imagine if they played J! with rules that would give all of your money to another player if you got the clue wrong and the other player got it right. But I still enjoyed being part of the battle. My fellow contestants are very nice people (we taped the 4th show of the day, so I got to know them a bit). The staff did a great job. Ty is a pleasant host. I'll enjoy my memories and that awesome watch.

The rules make it great training - for what.... I don't know, but great training.

He's actually quite pleasant. He's one of those hotties whose looks and cheerful demeanor are deceiving. He put in a surprise appearance at the Chicago audition. He and his wife came up to the NBC studios after riding in the Columbus Day parade. They just hung out and chatted. One of the contestant coordinators took pictures with his cell phone camera. As I left, Ty and one of my fellow auditioners were in an in-depth discussion about Scrabble.

He was really, really nice to Jeff when he taped.

Jeff taped the very first show of Crosswords. I had told Jeff that Ty played a character on "One Life to Live" who spent most of his time "in the snow, without a shirt" and he also had an evil twin.

Jeff was pleasantly surprised by Ty's hosting ability.

The contestants were given fancy name tags and Jeff, ever the good husband, wondered if he could have his, because he knew that I would want to put it in his scrapbook.

Ty told him that if he won his game, Ty would use his executive power to make sure that Jeff got it.

Not only did Jeff get the nametag, but Ty autographed a really nice message on it.

He's a good guy.
