However, trying to send a message to the listed e-mail address (mildolpassword@gmail.com) bounces back to me. If anyone else has any luck, please post.

I was trying to find out if my "Crosswords" appearance in 11/07 ruins my eligibility before I consider trying to get out of work early tomorrow.

It was bounced back to me as well. I'm not doing anything tomorrow so I might stop by the 3:30 session.
I don't have a Crosswords problem. I almost had a DoND problem.

Thank you so much for this, Tim! I owe you for a flight to New York - lol.

I was on Super Password w/Bert Convy in the late 80's. Won and went to the end game but didn't win the big bucks - went home with an ok check and shampoo or something. Loving this new version and have been dying for my "second chance!" If I can give anyone advice who wants to audition tomorrow let me know - but watch some shows on YouTube, and learn the difference between leading clues and opposite clues - verrry important. See ya there!

(My cable internet connection is being repaired this afternoon, so i will be out of service for a while...)

Mucho gracias, Snaxx!
I sent an e-mail as well, but no reply yet. I may have posed them a question they weren't prepared to answer yet.

Well, I'm back from MDP. It was long. There was much paperwork. There were four other bbs there. I was paired off with another player and they taped us. I played ok. My understanding was that there was another on-camera interview. I did not get this. I do not expect to be on this show. I will let others, if they wish, tell their stories.

I went on a lark because it wasn't too far for me. First stop was a conference room where we were given paperwork. I was working on completing it, then we were moved to a second location that had a theatre set up.

Uly and Tim H. saw me and said hi, but they were a few rows behind me so I couldn't go over and talk. Didn't see the other two BBs Uly referred to.

About 80 or so at the early audition time. One of the PAs said they did another audition on Tuesday and got about 200 people. As Uly said, lots of paperwork, but a lot of people near me had completed it before arriving - fully word processed. A very high percentage of actors near me - some brought headshots rather than wait for a digital photo. I got the idea the lead casting director put together a local team of casting people sight unseen - one of them I had seen before for another show. They must have put the word out to their contacts in the partially employed acting population.

Next step was to play a mock game in front of a camera. I auditioned before the lead casting director and played three rounds with two different contestants, giving clues twice and receiving once. The casting director was very complimentary about my gameplay.

Surprised about what Uly's saying about the second interview. From what I heard, it sounded like there would be a callback for it rather than it being immediately on site.

Don't know if I'll get called back - my recent appearance on 1 vs 100 may disqualify me even if they liked me enough. Also, since only 6 shows will be produced, I can't say there will be too many contestants selected for the run.

The ability to play the game and telegeneity/excitement seemed to be the most important attributes the casting crew were looking for. In other words: can you play the game, and do you look good playing it?

Unlike the first run of the show, the next six episodes will be shot at CBS Radford*, in Studio City, CA near the hotel where the audition was. The show will tape 2 a day from August 2 to August 4.

No expectations here, but I always have a good time auditioning for game shows so it was fun.

(*fixed stoopid typo - thanks Bob Juch)

I played a few rounds during my audition as 15QA did, then I was kept a little longer to do a taped interview, going over some of the typical stuff they ask on the application (what do you do, what would you do with the $) and then they took my digital photo.
So looks like I gave them enough to pique their interest. But the odds are long since they will need only 24 contestants for these 6 shows coming up. We'll see if I get any more contact.

This is neither Huey Lewis nor tennis, but I'll nonetheless try to post something coherent.

I live in Studio City so I walked to the Beverly Garland on a lark; I had seen the open casting-call notification on this here board. So thank you, thguy65!

Though I've had my share of gameshow appearances, at times with modest success, I remain something of a dilettante. So when I saw the great Uly, I had no option but to scream about five feet away from him, while thrusting my outstretched hand, "[First name]!" Of course we commiserated about our old wounds on the Chuck Woolery Program. To this day, I remain happy to be thought of as "the poorman's Uly."

Perhaps this is why, on the application question soliciting "your Million Dollar Password motto" I felt inspired to scribble: "Million Dollar Password: Where Lexicon Is King and Mental Telepathy Is Queen (and Uly's the Joker!)" Oops. Only kidding about that parenthetical part!

As Uly mentioned, it was long and drawn out. This prevented me from taking my preferred audition stance, that of hermitic voyeurism. So I struck up a conversation with the great thguy65.

Now that guy, thguy65, he is the rich man's Uly, literally and figuratively! I scoped out his c.v. again on the J! archive. He is undoubtedly Game Show Magic. Both Uly and thguy65 were kind enough to indulge me in explaining the arcana of this here board. Never again will I toss and turn at night over the mysteries of the llamarama. Thanks, boyz!

Anyway, at the end of the long day, I finally met my mock-game partner, and it was none other than thguy65. We conjured up some Million Dollar Password miracles in our few minutes of clues and response. I shouted something inane and insane like, "The Asians are doing it!" Ho-ho. Good times...

Anyway, I should be shocked not to see the great thguy65 on the CBS network come autumn. After all, he is Game Show Magic. I will sit at home and root for him and wonder if one of the words in his stack for the million-dollar round will indeed be "llama."

Thank you.

I do not know the identity of o-man, but I wonder if it might be someone who has a fixation about the pudu from Perudu.

I'm going to pretend that's correct until and unless someone disabuses me of the notion.

Hey! & Help! :)

#23 Post by secondchance » Fri Jul 11, 2008 11:35 am

Hey, good to see you again, Uly - and so nice to meet you, thguy & o-man!!

Well, yesterday was quite a mixed bag for this old girl. Not only was I paired up with the musclebound actor/stunt man who was born the year i graduated high school, but he had been sent over by his agent - having NEVER seen or heard of Password before in his life. Fun. So aside from the generation gap where the clues were concerned, he just couldn't really grasp the concept of synonym vs. antonym prompts. I spent several hours coaching him and bless his heart he tried, but needless to say our taped mock game coulda gone a little better... We had 1.5 run-throughs- I "gave" twice and "received" once - I think, it's kind of a blur - and as i've read some of you had a few and with different partners - and i don't believe my short after-interview was taped. AGAIN. I suppose I should have asked to play again with someone more experienced but I didn't realize at that time it was an option, and also wouldn't want to seem too pushy. In addition, probably should have mentioned the previous Password connection before the audition and not as i was about to walk out the door -- i was so flustered by that time i threw it in as a last ditch with a smile. That did seem to pique her interest tho... So here's to hoping the giggling idiot routine scores points, and brilliant (!) questionnaire responses bring phone calls for the callbacks at the end of the month!

So, as I'm walking to the car I check my phone messages and lo & behold there's one from Trivial Pursuit, looking for contestants and asking me to "come in." (I'd gone to that "America Plays - submit a question" thingy last month). So funny how the highs and lows can hit so simultaneously.

Anyone here going to try for TP? Uly? SoccerMom? Bueller?

Need advice: 1. Anyone know how much $ the Trivial Pursuit game can bring in, and 2. Will an audition or appearance on TP disqualify me if the Happy Card should arrive (breath not being held) or if Password (CBS) gives me another shot? (TP will be aired on ch. 13 / KCOP here in L.A. --- is KCOP considered NOT one of the networks, or is it syndication and that's ok, or what? -It's the kind of station that shows lots of old sitcom reruns, live sports, news, etc. On google i've seen it referred to as a "MY Network," whatever that means, also UPN & Fox related... confusing). I'm asking because I've learned that appearing on GSN shows will not disqualify from WWTBAM, but don't know much about this situation. Hellllp!

Good luck to all!!! Thanks for the laughs. I have a strong suspicion we'll be seeing a couple of us on the air...

No. No Purdue connections. 19 questions left...

This whole guessing game could spawn some gratuitous posts, y'know.

P.S. I forgot to ask thguy65/Uly what the heck a "gus" is. Here we go...
