Checking in from the Buff

#1 Post by Buffacuse » Mon Jul 07, 2008 4:18 pm

Day 1 at camp and Lil' Buff--despite being a nervous wreck about going--earned his daily reward and had a much better day than I could have hoped for...weather here is beautiful, apartment is nice, my friends at our satellite office here (where I am hotseating for the month) welcomed me back and I even got the internet to work.

I like days like this.

Thanks Christie and Marley--Day 2 not quite as good for the little guy but not bad. In the meantime, I love being back in the Buff (hee) although in my post-diabetes world it is brutal to drive by my fav pizza and beef on weck places and not stop in.

I'm glad lil buf gets to go to camp this summer.
beef on weck
what is beef on weck? I know pizza, but beef on weck is a stranger to me, I think.

A beef on weck is a wonderful thing: A bun with pretzel salt (called a kimmelweck bun) and caraway seeds dipped in au jus with roast beef piled high and horseradish.

I'm weakening as I type...

Ahhh Beef-On-Weck - (insert Homer drooling sound). I haven't had a good Beef-On-Weck in probably over 20 years. I did both my undergraduate and graduate schooling at UB - my first year was '76-'77 so I arrived just in time for the great blizzard - after that the weather was easy in comparison. I moved from Buffalo to Connecticut around '86 but only have been able to make a return visit a couple of times.

Take care!
