As for the Evil One,

Dude, you need to fall on by the house, my 'tendo is hooked up and ready to go!

And maybe you can answer something that has bugged me for a long time since you're all old school here. There was a console game in this restaurant I managed and after it got robbed one night and they tried to pry open the panel it was bent just enough that we could slip a long bread knife in there and click off free games. So I became a master at that game, ha! Anyway, I can't remember the name of it for the life of me and it bugs me when I think of it. Here's the deal:

It was a cityscape and you were a helicopter (I think, maybe a plane) that flew above the city at night and dropped bombs and had things shot at you. That's a bit simplified, but I can't remember all the ins and outs except it got really hard as you went up in levels.

I should probably start a new thread on old school video games, huh? Tell you what if you have an answer, start a new one and just give a "Don't answer until you've looked at today's QOD or some such".

That sounds like any number of games. My knowledge of arcade games is pretty much limited to what they had at the local bowling alleys, 7-11, skating rink, etc., and that doesn't sound like any one in particular.

My NES has been boxed up for a decade now, but I oughta crank it out sometime and see if it still works. Probably not since it was about shot when it went into mothballs... :(

8 bit games rule! Video games are not supposed to look like reality! Give me pixels as big as my fist any day!

I may have to work on making up an NES quiz sometime..... but not now. Gotta head to the Wal and pick up my paltry paycheck....
God bless Hip Tanaka!!!!!!

Give it a try, those babies are tough! Years ago the kids were fooling around and knocked over my paraffin bath and it went all over the machine as well as the controllers. I thought it was a lost cause but I can't throw away stuff, so I just boxed it up. When I moved I found the box and decided to go it a go since I have Mario withdrawals on occasion.

Scraped off all the paraffin, took a Q Tip to get it out of the nooks and crannie of the controllers and viola! Works like a charm. Now if I could find my Tetris cartridge and my Mario 2 (aka the Acid Trip portion of the trilogy) I'd be totally happy. But Mario 1 & 3 were the best anyway.

I'll have to try and remember more specifics about the console game, I think it was called Night something, but maybe I'm thinking that because it was set at night. It had helicopter noises all throughout and the shots looked like red fireworks and starbursts. And the cityscape was of course just a white line drawing.
